PPU Partizan has 158gr loaded ammo. Wonder what the largest bullet that works in 9mm out there is? What would these heavy for caliber types be used for?

Don't know what the heaviest is but I regularly load 173gr 9mm SWC and they are probably the most accurate lowest recoil 9mm bullets I reload.

There's a good chance they're subsonic, so maybe they're used/intended as suppressor fodder. They must have a pretty high sectional density, so I'll bet they penetrate well even at low speeds. Or their momentum may make them good at knocking over steel without much velocity/blast/recoil.

Heavy 9mm NATO bullets are typically issued for submachine guns use.

Years ago I sized down some 158gr .357 bullets to .356 for subsonic use. They worked fine. As logic would dictate, the powder charge was proportionally lower than what the books show for the 147 loadings. I'd use medium burn rate powders, reduce by 20%, chronograph as you go, and watch for pressure signs.
