So lately my wife has been working a lot of evening shifts, and for the past couple months she has been carpooling with a male co-worker. At first I didn't mind, I would rather have someone with her in case she has car trouble or something like that, but it seems that they have become a little bit more than friends. You know the scenario, the phone calls that hangup, she starts wearing nice clothes to work, talking about him all the time, etc. I don't know what to think. If I'm out in the garage when she gets home (usually after midnight) he just drops her off and leaves, but if the lights are off in the garage and I'm in the house (they think I'm sleeping) they sit out in the car for like twenty minutes. I asked her once what they were doing, she said "just talking"....whatever. So last night I decide that I'm going to see what really goes on out there. I leave the garage door open, but turn out all the lights. About the time she usually gets home, I go out and hide in the garage and wait. In a few minutes, his car pulls into my driveway, and I'm hiding behind my reloading bench. When his headlights shine through the garage and onto my bench, I see something that I just can't believe. There is an 8 lb jug of 2400 under the table thats almost full that ive left the cap off of, and its been a year or more like that!!!!!! should i toss the poweder? will it have soaked up too much moisture?

I would keep the powder as long as it's not full of dust and debris. I guess the wife's up to you. I've known some folks with strange agreements...

Well, The title sure made me think one thing.
Read halfway thru and was wondering WTH is going on here and then the punchline....I was so confused....

Anyways, Yeah. Ditch it. $20 isn't worth damaging your guns or you risking surgery.

You can always put that pound of 2400 in the driveway and next time the boyfriend pulls up with your wife try to set it off under the car and see if it's still good... :neener:

Uhh, guys, he said an 8 lb keg of powder. I say it depends on the conditions it has been stored under. If it is not that moist of an environment, and hasn't had real extreme temperatures, it might be fine. I would try some over a chronograph and see if the velocity and consistency is still decent. If erratic, or fails to give proper ignition, toss the powder and start storing it in a better environment..

I would try it out first. That's just me. Obviously I would find a safe way to do it though. With the way powder costs these days you could almost buy a new gun for the same price as the powder if you blew it up.

Is the OP actually asking a question or just trying to post an old joke? If the latter, this this thread should be closed as off topic.

If the question is real, I would be more afraid of what may have crawled or fallen into the jug than any effect humidity may have had. Smokeless powder is very much like plastic when it comes to absorbing moisture.

................and a old one at that.

Well, I missed the 8 lb keg part somehow....

Way more than 20 bucks. I would try some before I ditched it but then again I'm not to sure I would want to risk it. That really sucks tho

next time I drop off your Wife, just leave the power by the door for me ,I'll take that off your hands too, lol ...............

Tightly wrap the jug with bailing wire and duct tape. Insert a fuse and next time "boyfriend" pulls up in the driveway, light fuse and roll jug under the car. If it don't go off at least the partys in the car will know you mean business...

But left opened for a year, I wouldn't load withit.
