I antiqued the spare barrel I had for her.... I think it came out pretty well... at a glance its very difficult to tell it isn't original (unless you disassemble it.

I haven't fired her yet.... I need to adjust the sear spring and give her a trigger job...

I also need to scrounge up a magazine

Oh look a mag catch, thanks AJAX! Now I have nothing to complain about! Wait, it's missing a magazine...

Almost makes me want to send you a new one so you could make it look antiqued like that one. You could have a potential market here. Just a thought

I'm definitly going to antique one new 1911 for my own use... I would be willing to do it for others, but its a ton of time consuming work, i would have to charge a considerable amount to make it something I did on a regular basis for other people.

I'm not sure, but you may be considered a gunsmith and need an FFL for it too.

Yeah,I was late.finding this thread, too!WOW,this is awesome!Looking foreward to seeing the revolver come back to life. Lightman

That is awesome Ajax. I've been reading and watching.

Amazing from the first page to now and the transformation is remarkable!

Awesome Thread!

Ajax, Thank you for sharing this! Since July, I have been taking a second look at the rusty "relics" while, making my rounds with the local gun shops. I have an old Savage copy of the Winchester 1890 thats still shot every so often, but has lived in a barn for years along with a rusty Ballester Molina that might be good candidates for a starter project for me. I will be sure to follow your lead and post pics and videos of the process. Can't wait for the range report! - IsoMAcK

ooooooooo, I've always wanted a ballester molina.... if you decide that you're not interested in fixing her up, let me know ;)

You're making awesome progress! I can't believe this guy is finally almost done! I really really wish you were here in Oregon so that I could watch the first shots of this guy.

Make sure you get multiple camera guys for that one, I'm sure everyone here is thrilled to see this guy go bang.

From the last 2 videos, it looks like your extractor is clocking hard. But then again, I can't watch the videos with great quality because of my internet connection. Is your firing pin stop snug? Have you tried cycling rounds through it?

I rarely venture over to the handgun forums (rifles are just more my speed), but I was sucked in by this thread. I have always had dreams of doing things like this; I've never been in love with 1911s, but that one is awful pretty now and has a rich, mysterious history.

I will be checking in again periodically. I already burned too much time flipping through all 12 pages thus far... Keep up the great work, Ajax.
