Load data for Berry's 124 GR HB

Picked up some Berry's 124 Gr Hollow base in the flat point today. I want to load them with W231 to see how they work. I have loaded most of my 9's with Titegroup so this is new with 231 and these bullets.

Anyone have a good recipe? I don't have the need for full power loads, just like nice shooting and accurate loads.

OAL for these bullets?

I will be shooting them out of a CZ Sp 01 Phantom and a Ruger SR9 if that helps.

I shoot them out of my SR9 and CZ 75B as well. Load them the same as you would your other lead 124 grain FP bullets, same charge and same OAL so they fit in both guns. I load mine with 4.3 grains 231 for target velocities with about 1/32" of the bullet body above the top of the case, same as a SWC style bullet.

I have used the Berrys 124 Gr HBFN bullet loaded at 1.060 with pretty good results, but I will buy the HBRN bullet from now on.

I load Berrys 124 Gr HBRN-TP bullet and loaded them at 1.140 to 1.145 OAL with excellent feeding various 9MM guns. I like it in .38 Super as well.

Heck, it's a RN bullet, it will feed in most anything.

Any midrange jacketed W-231 load should work well. Perhaps tweak it up or down a little to suit your taste for recoil.

Remember with Berry's you can load up to Mid data jacketed. I shoot that bullet all the time in my 229 with good results. I use WSF powder, so I can't help you there. Except go to Hodgon's site for your load data.

I don't use them, but they need to be loaded short, like Walkalong suggested, because they have a truncated nose profile. I load a lead 125 TC bullet to 1.040" OAL on top of 3.8grs of 231. It runs reliably in everything. It goes about 1000 FPS. I suggest this as a starting point.

Word on the street is that the newer 115 HBRn are a little more accurate as well. With the longer body, I have to believe that any HB bullet will show better overall accuracy due to the increased bearing surface of the bullet body.

I ran 124fp with 4.0 grains of win 231 at 1.045" and got 970fps.
The hollow base gave me 1,000 fps with the same load and it had more recoil.
These loads were for my XD 40 with a barsto conversion barrel and were just warm enough to cycle the gun for competition. I dropped the load by 0.2 grains and matched the feel and speed of the non-HB bullet.
