MASSIVE new gun range in Colorado!!

My buddy and i stumbled upon The Second Amendment Firearms Experience LLC yesterday!!

This is going to be a new shooting facility with tons of covered and uncovered shooting bays on a 900 acre lot, about 5 minutes east on I-25 and Hwy 66!!

If you sign up now (for free) you will be put on the list to become a Founding Member :D:D

I called the number on the web page yesterday and spoke to Ron (one of the Managing Partners).

I am so stoked, this is 10 minutes from my house!

We actually have plenty of ranges in Illinois. We just keep em secret from those folks that reside in Crook county. :neener::D

Hmmm...I guess that's why I haven't heard of many since I'm in Crook County. ;) What I wouldn't give for an outdoor range.
 
Sycamore gun club is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 pm. It is nice in the winter. The 100 yard positions are covered, and they have a little cbin at the range with a wood burning stove. You shoot a little then go inside and shoot the bull and warm up. Not too long a drive from Chi town.

Crystal Lake now has a new state of the art indoor facility. Includes 75 yard positions for rifle. They just dont like steel ammo. http://www.ontargetsite.com/
 
The prices seem fair. The only bad thing is if one misses one monthly payment due to change of mind, forgot or finances, one would then have to re-pay a new initiation fee in order to rejoin probably.
 
Before I put a penny into this I would want a lot of financial information on this outfit. How is the place financed and by who? After the mess of the operation down by Las Vegas I would be extremely cautious. The early money there got royally raped.

This appears to be a potentially large operation and a lot of dollars will need to be involved. If/when it doesn't work who gets stuck?

I'm just saying that it's normal/common for people to find, for whatever reason, that something (another example is healthclub memberships) might not be for them and then let their membership/monthly dues lapse. To reinstate membership, one is of course and necessarily required to pay the "initiation" fees once again.

I agree with what you're saying about what's "probably" the case, but for now that isnt stated on their website..

Either way I am excited, and think that the price is fair for what you will be getting, even more so if you compare it with other ranges here. This is of course a determination everyone has to make for themselves.

Just trying to share the joy here people!
 
This is really good news! I have been going up to Pawnee Sports which is 60 miles away. I am probably 5 miles from this place. Just hope they will have a 200 yard range.
 
When i talked to Ron (one of the managing partners) he told me that they will start with maximum 100 yard ranges but that they have enough real estate to go way further. I understood that they will be further developing the facility as the years go by and as members request.
 
A bit more expensive than I would hope for, as a regular shooter.

The range I belong to here in Colorado (WHAC) goes out to about 600 yards (berms at 25, 50, 100, 200, 300, 450, 500, 550 yards), and has separate ranges for pistol and archery, along with a basic shotgunning setup. Is it fancy? Not really. But, it works well for people who like to shoot, it's a fairly friendly group of people, and it only costs $200 year for unlimited use.

Don't get me wrong, this new place sounds nice. It just doesn't seem cheap to me.

I'm also a member of WHAC, great place, very laid back. Unfortunately more than an hour from me!
 
I have a suggestion - before you put any money into this, check with the local government (city, town, or county) Planning Department to make sure the range has all the entitlements and approvals they'll need to build and operate. It looks like it's in unincorporated Weld County, which bodes well.
As an aside, I have very fond memories of the range in Sycamore, Illinois.
 
Am I just cheap, or do those prices seem very expensive? I'm used to annual fees of around $150 per year at both the Buffalo Creek Gun Club near Bailey, CO, and the Eagle Valley Gun Glub in Gypsum, CO. Sure, it's an apples to oranges comparison, but at the prices for this new range, it sure does make it a lot more expensive to shoot.

Well... if you've got the money to spend...
I guess people who have no problem paying $250/month for family cell-phone access, plus $200/month for all the cable TV channels can afford it.

Might be a good idea.. I got the impression that they wont ask any deposits before they start construction. But if nothing has happened by the time they ask for deposits, we'll (my gun buddies and I) have to dig a little.
 
I did go ahead and sign up but I think I may drop a note and say forget it.

I did not look at the prices before getting all excited. Just out of my league.

Having owned and operated a couple of small businesses I understand the need to model income and expense. But at these prices I wonder if they can make this work. If they do it will be without me.

More power to em! We need a range closer than 50 miles away here but at these prices, 50 miles away is still a better deal.
 
Just my opinion, a lot of marketing. It looks like their pricing is setup for high initial profit or loan repayment. Then they have a steady future cash flow from those who actually shoot regularly. Great for the investors; not so much for the shooters.

I did not see any mention ammo anywhere in the brief reading that I did. Will they allow shooters to bring your own ammo or require shooters to use theirs? Requiring shooters to buy over priced range ammo can add to the bottom line.
