Is a gen II that I first bought in 1989. I had it converted by Glock to a Gen III two year ago. I thought that I would use the rails up front for a light or laser, but I haven't yet. The shooting season is just about over here in VT, so it is time to do a few mods to my G17. It has a 3.5 connector in it. I carry it 24/7.:)

Being from Michigan, my wife sometimes talks about memories of this season or that season as if she could do certain things only certain times of the year. Maybe that's why she moved to the Sunny South when outdoor things can be done all year pretty much.

I just can't imagine not being able to shoot year round at my [outdoor] gun club. "Shooting season" would be like beer season or steak season or something ... intolerable for me.

Ben & Jerry haven't gotten guns banned in VT yet?

I grew up in MA but left for the SW long ago - nasty winters, dumb gun laws

VT has some of the least restrictive gun laws. Open Carry is legal. Concealed carry doesn't require a permit

My G17 is in my nightstand drawer...still don't understand what this thread is about!! :scrutiny:

My carry gun has a first name it's G-L-O-C-K, my carry gun has a second name it's one-nine

I like to carry if every day
and if you ask me why
I'll say, because Glock 19 has a way with B-U-L-L-E-T-S

How do you "convert" a Gen II gun to Gen III? Replace the barrel, frame and slide assemblies?

As far as 'mods', I can't think of any my own Gen II Glock 17 needs, excep maybe sights. What do you want it to do that it does not already?

Probably the first person I've ever heard of voluntarily converting their Gen II to a Gen III.

I assume that when you conveted from GenII to Gen III you got a new frame. Do you still have the GenII frame? It would be worth some money.

Put me down as another who swapped a Gen 2 for a Gen 3 frame on a G17. Also, I would like to add that my black cat has yellow eyes, and "I wish I was in the land of cotton" should have been, "I wish I were in the land of cotton." .

When I sent my 2ndGen G17 to Glock GA, I swapped my old 2nd Gen frame for a new 3rd Gen frame. So now I have a complete 3rd Gen G17. The slide and barrel are still 2nd Gen. But technically, it is a 3rd Gen G17.

This is my Glock M17, there are many like it but this one is mine...
Is that where this is going? :D

Well... Since we're comparing stories... My Glock M17, when purchased back in the day, was a Gen 2, stayed that way, does not go to church, enjoys going for long walks in the southern NV desert year round and sitting on my nightstand watching me sleep in blissful peace because I find it hard to roll over in bed with the darned thing on my hip. ;)

Yesterday my glock 17 was a glock 22 and tomorrow it will be a glock 31, after that it will be a 17 again. I have 3 glock 17's and sometimes I like to have each glock 17 chambered in a different caliber just to be confusing.

No changes for wintertime, I have thought of changing over to 147gr JHPs to get through winter clothing, but I decided to stay with my WW 9mm +p+ 115gr JHPs. They go 1400 FPS at the muzzle.
