anyone ever use this stuff to tumble their cases with?

Description
This ceramic abrasive is ideal tumbler media for general purpose polishing and light deburring! The tumbler media is made up of 1" angle-cut tri-stars and provides a high luster finish on your items. For soft action polishing and deburring, this is a great ceramic abrasive for hobbyists or anyone polishing small parts!

Blended abrasives in ceramic medium
1" angle-cut tri-star
Soft action
High luster finish

It's $14.99 for 5 pounds, and I think 5 pounds would probably fit in my Lyman 1200 along with a bunch of cases... Was wondering if anyone ever tried this stuff before for their brass?

thanks all!

Ceramic media is meant to be used wet, like stainless steel, and would probably do better in a rotary tumbler, not a vibratory tumbler. (I think the Lyman 1200 is vibratory)

You'd probably be better off going with SS media or an ultrasonic cleaner if you went that route in my opinion.

If the chunks are 1" in size they are quite large to deal with in a standard tumbler also. At least they would not get caught in your bore.:D I am really happy with my SS media and Thumlers rotary tumbler.

I wouldn't use it. Get some Walnut Shells, or Pecan Shells at your local reloading source. Every once in a while, tune it up with a tabesoon of Brase (Let it run for a couple of hours first, before adding brass), then you are good for a while.

Good Luck

Dan

You don't want that media any where near your brass. I use that media to round off sharp edge when I machine steel part. Considering brass is much softer, my guess is it would probably destroy brass fairly quickly.

I have had good luck with lizard bedding. Its walnut media but cheaper then buying it from the reloading shop.
