S&W gone PC??

I'm not really sure what you're talking about, but if it's a bullet button, it is put on some rifles to make them "California Compliant." The standard mag release button is evil there.

Thanks for the info

Thanks, I was wondering if it was a "Calif" model. I'm in Vermont and never had to worry about the "evil" mag release. I ran into two people who had bought, unknowingly, calif compliant AR's from a local gun shop. They didn't find out until after the purchase. They tried to return it to the dealer (unfired because they didn't know how to drop the mag to load it at the range), dealer told them to go pound sand. Shame on them for not doing a function check at the store but they should of been informed too.

Next thing you know S&W might start putting internal locks and magazine disconnects on their pistols.

^^^^This. Look up a couple videos on Youtube to see how its done. Easy as pie.

Because CA uses a 'point system' to define a 'Assault Weapon' (eg, 1 point for removable mag, one point for pistol grip, etc.,) one can avoid the Removable Magazine point by having a magazine that requires a 'tool' (or the point of a bullet) to remove it.

All your friends have to do is swap out the mag release. No tools required, takes about 2 minutes and $10-$15 worth of parts.

Hey MachIV, if you have found a way to remove the bullet button on a "California" S&W MP15 with out tools I'd like to hear about it. I changed one out for a customer a while back and had to make a little tool to do it (even after watching the youtube vids Jake...). The Mag release on the rifle I swapped releases on would not depress far enough to rotate and even then the round “security nut” that was “loctited” on would have just spun around inside the button. If there is another way to do without any tools I’d like to know how…

Not quite. We have a list of features, any of which combined with a removable magazine on a centerfire semi-auto rifle turns it into an URAW. No detachable mags mean we can put as many features as we want.

Yes^

It isn't as simple as a points system, and you can't combine anything, really, with a finger-detachable magazine .

It's not just S&W, more and more manufacturers are making CA legal ("bullet button" maglock) variants of their ARs.

Examples...
ArmaLite, Bushmaster, Colt, Daniel Defense, LWRC, LMT, Ruger, SIG

Has to do with CA being the state with the fourth most FFL firearm transactions and the industry adapting to fulfill the demand.

Even CzechpointUSA makes a Cali legal vz-58! I am very glad I don't live under rules like that. A few years ago I saw a Cali legal pump action AK on the shelf at one pawn shop...still there, nobody wants such a goofy thing out here.

I am thrilled to see real AKs and Ars in the California stores. When the UN troops show up it will take about 5 minutes to un neuter them. The super majority Democrats are hot on this trail however as they don't want their unlimited taxation power threatened. I hope it is still Highroad to speak the truth here!

Amassing people think S&W came up with something new maybe bad. Buy a regular mag release and install it.

Most all the ar15/m4 companies all have caly compliant rifles even euro design rifles that meet the needs of caly. If people would just look to see first. Even colt has or had 5 models caly compliant
