I was thinking about getting their 7.62X39 Barrel/Bolt combo from midway for 239.99 to convert my AR. Just wanted to check here and see if anyone knew if they make quality stuff. I was thinking of getting their barrel/bolt combo along with a "enhanced" 7.62 firing pin and a Wolf hammer spring. Sound like a decent conversion?

I've only used the AR-Stoner magazines and they functioned 100%. I'd say the product line is good to go.

well I guess its settled. I'm going to convert my DPMS Upper/New Frontier Polymer Lower AR-15 from 5.56 to 7.62. Before I get flamed for this conversion I'm doing it because I am consolidating my calibers down to four, 12ga, 22lr, 9mm, and 7.62. 7.62x39 won the rifle caliber battle for me based solely on price.

You can get 7.62x39 significantly cheaper than 5.56? Not around here.

Also, I think you're headed for problems. 7.62x39 and its magazines have problems in an AR magwell. Who know what happens in a polymer lower but this is about to turn ugly I fear.

7.62 is cheaper locally and online for myself anyways. Also I've seen some 7.62 mags that have really good reviews, maybe not a few years ago but currently they seem to be feeding reliably. I think with m4 feed ramps plus a 7.62 firing pin and heavy hammer spring that it will be pretty reliable. As far as my polymer lower, people don't like that no matter what caliber its shot with, they can't get over the fact that I paid 100.00 for a complete lower. If it cracks I'll replace it but I'd be willing to bet that I get a long life out of it, at least for what I'm using it for.

My wally world sells 7.62x39 and .223 tula steel for $5 same price. And 100 packs of federal brass for $35.
