Any forum members get their hands on one of these? Right now they're only available at Cheaper Than Dirt. I spoke with an Armscor rep that said these are the only guns that are available until after next year's SHOT. No other distributors will have any until then. A 10mm 1911 with a $600 price tag is really, really tempting to me. Just for a fun gun. But the more I look at the gun, the more I've kind of talked myself out of it. I'm not crazy about the new billboard logo. The picture on the website gives the impression that the MSH isn't properly fit to the back edge of the frame. The beavertail is alloy instead of steel and has more of a rounded look to the tip, and I prefer a more aggressive point. I like the ramped and supported bull barrel, but don't like that it's not flush-cut with the end of the slide.

Anyone have first hand experience with the gun? Or anyone with better pictures?
 
See if you can get Wilson Combat to build one for you. I'm sure you'll like it a lot better than a RIA!! :cool:

Ain't that the truth. I just don't have the $2k+ to invest or a year to wait.

If I got the RIA, I would just have to lower my expectations.

Split the difference (well, closer to the RIA) and get a Kimber or Colt. Both have been making 10mm 1911's for awhile, and I'm bettin' the RIA isn't as refined as a Stainless Target II, Eclipse Custom II or the Delta Elite.
 
The beauty of RIA's is that they are good for the price. If they cost as much as American made guns of equal quality they wouldn't be that impressive.

In Shotgun news ads they are talking about a new convertible 1911 TCM that shoots both 9MM and a necked down and shortened 5.65 case shooting a 35 grain HP .22 bullet at around 2200 FPS. It sells for around $450, and I'm tempted. (The ads were Sarco ads in Shotgun News)

(PS, It shoots a 40 grain bullet at those velocities, not the 35 grain.)

The 9MM barrel means it won't lose it's value if the cartridge doesn't take off. So far I haven't heard of anyone making 5.65 brass into cases for it, but there is talk about reloading.

As far as 10MM goes I really like my DW, the fully ramped barrel works well and makes me suspicious of guns without that system, is that RIA that way?

Yes, the RIA 10mm has a ramped and supported barrel.
 
I handled one and it had some issues. Slide wouldn't lock back with the Mag in, and the safety has some sharp edges on it.
