Where the Army puts me
Well I got a new 34 gen3. Shot about 150rds through it today a mix of federal 115gr and Winchester ranger 124gr. I was shooting high and to the left all day looking at the rear sight I could tell that it was a little to the right. I didn't have a screwdriver at camp small enough to adjust it. Over all I like a lot it does seem to recoil more than the 19c I was also shooting. After I spend more time with it and adjust the sights ill have more to follow.

With the longer sight radius of the 34, over the 19, it will appear to have more recoil, because, being longer, the front will lift higher.

The porting on a compensated gun is there to reduce felt recoil.

The 34 doesn't recoil more than the 19C, and doesn't even have more muzzle flip.

The amount of gas that is coming out the top ports of the 19C doesn't reduce muzzle flip more than the extra forward mass that the 34 has versus the 19.

Get a 17L, and put a 9" Wolf barrel in it, you'll think you're shooting a 22. :D

That could be quite load sensitive. I realize the OP is talking factory loads, but with load regulation you could get differing recoil profiles such that the larger gun does in fact recoil more.

My G20 with the longer LW barrel is not a softer shooter than with the OEM barrel, and my LW G19 barrel in my G26 doesn't create a lighter recoil situation. But as is the usual case, YMMV

I think if you just shoot it more you won't notice any difference in recoil.

I don't find that the G34 recoils much at all. But I usually shoot larger calibers.

Come on, it's only 9mm! :p

anybody have any issues with the stock adjustable sights. I cannot get this things right.

I haven't with mine. Were you able to get the sight adjustment tool out and attempt to zero? Still having trouble after?

Yeah I was over thinking it. I shot a 19, 17 and the 34 today using 115gr and I'm pretty sure I was just noticing the extra length of the 34 during recoil. I pulled a 5.04 1-5 drill today with the 34.

After boresighting, how certain are you that it's the gun? I only ask because reports of "my new gun is shooting low and left" tend to be very common, and often resolved when the person refocuses on fundamentals and a trigger squeeze that goes straight to the rear. An easy way to check this would be to have a friend or two fire it.

If you are 100% certain that it is the lockup or mechanics of your pistol, I would put it back to Glock. They owe you a functioning, accurate gun. The buyer's due diligence is to rule out the human factor since user error tends to be the much more common cause for inaccuracy.

The first time out when it was high and left both me and my buddy who are Law Enforcement Weapons Instructors for the Army were hitting in the same place. After I adujusted the sights and boresighted it was on 20yards and in (which is about the distance we boresighted it) The plastic factory sights, to me, aren't even there is no straight line anywhere on them. No big deal I was planning on replacing the sights before I bought the pistol. I ordered a set last week and they should be here today.
