Today I bought an American Tactical 1911 from a friend. It's nearly new, he has only fired 50 rounds through it. He was needing some money so he sold me the gun with a shoulder holster and waist holster and a box of ammo for $200. I know nothing about American Tactical guns but for the price I figured it was definitely worth the money. What do you guys think??? Just lookin for a lil feedback. Thanks.

Don't know about the .22, but the .45s tend to have soft ejectors. Not a problem to get it replaced with a Wilson or Ed Brown ejector. Other than the soft factory ejector, I have no complaints about mine. It's a smooth, reliable shooter.

Soft ejector!!!! that by its self would cause me to question the rest of the steel, if they can't get the ejector right what would give you any indications that the rest of the pistol is made of quality steel ?

shoot safe, shoot straight, and have fun

If it's the .45 you need to pay your friend some more money or sell it back for the same price when he is on his feet.

I've never heard anything about any metallurgy problems with the frames, slides, or barrels of the Philippine 1911s.
I have heard of soft ejectors and possibly some other small parts, but that's it.
Mine is smoother and tighter than the Taurus, Springfield, Remington, and Smith 1911s I handled prior to buying it.

Soft ejector doesn't mean it's made of poor quality materials. It means that it wasn't heat treated properly, if at all.
Small parts are a lot harder to heat treat correctly than the big parts of the gun.
Besides, ejectors aren't expensive.

They are solid guns made by SAM shooters arms unlike the RIA THE ATI slides are forged not cast extractors are fine You should get years of good use out of an ATI

As has been mentioned, the current batch of SAM 1911s imported by ATI have had issues with some weak internals.

Example:

SAMs have been around a long time, and there is no evidence that their basic frames, slides, and barrels have any issues. It would appear that for this latest contract with ATI, they have chosen to min-run the quality for the internals.
