The MK9 is only slightly larger than the Boberg but since it's an all-steel pistol it's heavier than the Kahrs or Rohrbaugh. Some people consider a little too heavy for pocket carry.

The guns start to creep up in size after the Rohrbaugh, Boberg and Kahrs until you're all the way up to the 6.29" for the Glock 26

I haven't seen the new M&P Shield yet, but my Walther PPS is sure easy to live with. I've had mine for about three years now... it is an accurate and reliable pistol.

I really think it's a mistake to overlook the PF9. Mine has been reliable (had it for 3 yrs), reasonably accurate, and has a decent trigger. I have shot it in our BUG matches and done well with it. In fact, at our last match, I placed third with it.

I can understand that it is not a pretty gun, and some of them have problems. I bought a Kimber that I named Bob Marley, because, "It be jammin'!" I will never buy one again.

Ruger LC9 - thin

I've said this before somewhere, but as a guy with distinctly medium sized hands, I have gone my entire life not really understanding all those who say they need a thicker grip.

Until, that is, I held an LC9. First time I've ever held a gun that bordered on being too thin (and I own Kel-Tec PF9 & P3AT). I was impressed.

If you want thin, LC9 delivers.

Walther PPS

I own a number of small 9's and the PPS is the most thin of all. Great gun, reliable, accurate, easy to maintain. Only thing I would change is the mag release, a prong like device under the trigger guard in lieu of a button.

+1 to the PPS, I shot one for a day when it was brand new and it functioned flawlessly with good accuracy, no "break-in period" needed.

I have a PM9 and a Shield. The Kahr is thinner and overall smaller than the shield. I would base my decision on which trigger system you prefer. The Kahr is like a DA revolver with a world class trigger job. The Shield is more Glock like. Both are great guns.

If I had the money I would track down a Rohrbaugh, but for normal budgets the Kahr is hard to beat. You can still find the CW versions on Gunbroker for <$400

I've always detested Ruger pistols...until I recently fired my brother's new LC9. Had to get used to the looooooooooong trigger pull, but the pull was smooth, and I like the pistol. It's certainly small enough and thin enough to use as a pocket pistol.

How thin is thin? We just got a Ruger SR9 and an SR9c; the "c" is to replace a Glock 26 my son is taking. Not the "thinnest" gun I own, but the SR9c is thin-feeling to me and is very comfortable to hold, shoot and carry.

Walther PPS 9mm

Walther PPS is thin, easy to conceal, accurate, feels good in the hand, reliable with all ammo and is extremely high quality.

+1. I'm in the market for a Sig 290RS and was surprised, when comparing it side by side with my SR9c, to find the slide widths nearly identical. Every time I go looking at other guns, I am reminded how much my current carry fills most of my needs.

"Wants?"... Now that is something entirely different. STILL planning to get the 290.

I have only put 113 rounds through my Kahr CM9 so far but it has been flawless and is super easy to carry. I had an LC9 I traded in at a major loss after nickeling the slide and upgrading the sights. The controls were still rusting and it was ticking me off. I would recommend the Kahr highly personally.

I am not a pistol expert by any means, but my choice came down to the Shield & the Bersa BP9CC. I went with the Bersa as the pistols, to me, were very similar, but I got the Bersa for $350. No regrets. I have not handled the Nano, but I've heard & seen nothing bad with the Shield.

Sig P938

Just got one for Christmas and had it on the range the next day. After 350+ rds, this thing is sweet and accurate at 15yds and less. I looked and looked before I settled on the P938, and thrilled I did! Important, make sure you get a couple of extended mags. They make a huge difference in comfort and control. My only dislike is the trigger, the gunsmith has already said he can easily resolve that matter though, so no worries.
