Guess I was lucky - back before Christmas I picked a couple of Mec Gar Browning High Power Mags (13 rounds) at a descent price $22.00. Just looked today and every site I went to is sold out. I did find a few in the $100 range and some knock off Asian military mags.

Some "Change" huh...

Politicians are like diapers, they need to be changed often for the same reason.

Never had a problem with any of my Mec-Gar magazines; just glad I bought mine a few years back. If I can't get OEM; I buy Mec-Gar. Except for Glock of course.

Wife's Ruger SR9c magazines have "Made in Italy" on them; didn't look that closely at her SR9. Wouldn't surprise me if they too were made by Mec-Gar.

They will be back around soon enough. I have a few 15 and 20rd Mec-Gars, and a 13rd somewhere too, I'm not too worried about it. The nuttiness will die down after awhile.

I bought my High Power about a year ago. Picked up a few Mec Gars then - I liked the 13 round mag just because of the historical connection to the HP.

+1 on the Mec Gars...that's all I use in my Walther(s)

I just hope the House holds the line on the on the current BS.

ku4hx: As I understand it, MecGar makes the OEM Browning/FN ones, so there is no need to spend more money on Browning labeled mags.

There is no "Some 'change' huh....." the members of gun loving crowd are doing it to themselves. I would be surprised if there are any new laws and regulations pertaining to guns in 2013.
Actually watching people at local gun shows at this time is more entertaining then prime time comedies.

Actually there is...for some anyway...

While MecGar is the OEM for FNs BHP, and has been for decades, the commercial MecGar BHP magazines are not the same as those they supply to FN, and it goes beyond the MecGar logo. Current FN supplied magazines are finished matte similar to previous generations of FN BHP magazines and not the high gloss blue/black of the MecGars. AND, current FN supplied magazines are equipped with the "Mousetrap" spring which, for all the whining by some, actually solves the drop-free negative of the MDS...that has always been a part...for good or bad, of all but most 640b pistols.

It's mostly a nostalgia thing I guess, because commercial MecGar magazines certainly work well, in fact extremely well...but, silly or not, the FN BHP is a classic pistol deserving of magazines that would have originally come with that particular pistol. Spare magazines for range use is where MecGars come in handy...and I've got many, but when the BHP is carried...it is carried with FN factory supplied magazines of the vintage correct to that particular pistol.

It's what I do too. :)
