I made a trip to the gun shop this morning and found one 50 round box of AR ammo--price was $75. He told me it was a good deal since his buddy had sold 10,000 rounds for $2.00 a pop at the gun show last week. As to HC mags he said his importer friend, that he has used for 20 years, told him it seemed hopeless to get any more, of any caliber. Then he explained that his last shipment was stopped at sea and ordered to return. Can it really be that the government can stop such imports before a law has been passed? What a mess!

Most standard capacity AR mags are manufactured right here, at least the milspec ones. Not sure where PMags are assembled. Sounds like gun shop windbaggery to me.

I'd be quite skeptical of such tales without a verifiable source; when I bought my Five-seveN last year, every dealer claimed they were about to be banned, and one idiot said their importation had already been stopped. All just to drive sales to the uninformed at gunshows.

If they are make here in the US and there is no ban, then it is just BS. If make overseas and have already been issued an import permit then it is unlikely the story is true. The state department can discontinue issuing import permits on new shippments however or make it a much longer process to get one.

Sounds like a story that would have been on CNN or Fox News.

Did he proceed to offer his "last few" 30 round mags for 3x retail? I'd be leary of any news from someone selling .223 for $1.50/rnd.

Yup, amazing how folks just blindly accept anything they are told, especially at a LGS.

Happens every time there's a panic. Some unscrupulous seller (usually at a gunshow) will talk about how there was 3 executive orders signed that very morning outlawing any firearm that contain the letters A, R, or K in any combination, magazines over 2 rounds and all ammunition that could conceivably be chambered in an evil high capacity assault gun clip magazine. He also usually has several he'll sell you at a fantastic price (5x retail). When it comes to these clowns just humor them, OR call them out on their Bull Poo in front of their customers.

What, they're going to turn around a ship at sea with something like 10,000 containers because one might have some mags that might be restricted in some way at some point in the future? :what: I don't think so.

i personally would never set foot in his store again. I have no problem with someone raising prices when demand goes up like this,, but starting or spreading such crap as that is shameful. My advice, don't do business with this person

Sure! why not? Didn't you hear? They were preventing cargo planes from landing at the international airports and turning them back around to country of origin.

Hmmm. $2 a round for 5.56? Can still find bulk lots of 62 grn for < $1 on various Internet sites. Not saying folks at some gun show did not work themselves up into a frenzy, but don't think that is any basis to believe the high seas story. I say, bunk.

You heard this from a guy trying to sell you a 50rnd box of .223 for $75. Im starting to think that all this AWB talk is just a way to get gun owners to spend money. Ive remained relatively silent about all this but people have lost their minds. The sky is falling. WASR's and saigas selling for $2000. Del-Ton uppers for $899. 50 rounds of .223 for $75. The owner of my LGS (that i used to respect) told me that they had to raise the price of every gun in the store by $300 because they will have to close down once this AWB goes through. The sheep are definitely in a panic and sellers are making a fortune right now.

That's what they call "shearing of the sheep"
