the hysteria is high, and it is very understandable ..... elections have consequences.

Yeah, just like Boortz said four years ago. The problem is that many in this country want this. But that's for another thread.

It's spread to Oklahoma, last 2 weeks gunshows and stores have been crazy. Empty shelves and not a ar in sight. Other types of guns are starting to get attention. The lowly SKS, Mosin are running low. 10/22 are gone. I have never seen anything like it. As has been mentioned many, many 1st time buyers don't care what it is or how much it costs, just gotta have it.

the past 2 bill goodman shows were just as bad here in ohio, but I made it through the Deal and walked away with some very good deals. Well worth the wait.

In Birmingham, AL the Fire Marshal showed up, he would only let 20 people
inside; as 20 came out. The waiting line was wrapped solidly around the
building all day long~! People were scouring for everything "under the sun"
pertaining to firearms; especially the "standard capacity stuff"~! ;) :D

I was at the Orlando show this weekend too; utter chaos. The fear and its impact on prices was amazing, but I guess not unexpected. Ammo prices were the most depressing: $1/round for .223, if you could find it. I was there before noon on the 1st day and all I could find was foreign battle packs, also for $1/round (no thanks). Glad I bought a case of Federal at a show last summer for $0.35/round but shot the last of it at Tenoroc yesterday. Time to finally start a new hobby: reloading.

Agree with Lex Luthier to let the suckers clear out before wading on in. All of those people who could not afford the ridiculous prices paid for ARs lately will be selling them again in a few weeks/months. I have been poking around Gunbroker for both ammo and parts - people there seem more reasonable, to an extent, and I try to stick to those with whom I have done business in the past.

How about for the generic Yugo Mauser 48A?
Are these starting to attract not just attention, but realistic offers?

TreeDoc: For people interested in the SKS, are they aware of Gunbroker?
They might still have four pages of them, many at normal prices (unless 'normal' means prices long before March 2008).

I would sell my SKS. But only at "end of the world, meteors are striking, Ragnarok" prices. Think really really high, then double that and add a hundred.

Why set so high? Because I actually believe that in a few weeks they may be banned. That's why. Pretty simple.
