Are you suggesting the government is doing this? Because that's just crud.

We are seeing more of this because the media anti-glorifies these things and the perpetrator. There is a reason that "infamous" is spelled the way it is.

There are still little gangbangers bringing guns to school everyday, conducting gang warfare on school grounds. Lets hope that every little incident doesn't get turned into a "save the children" plea......

About school shootings and the shooters: I will do my best to stay somewhere NEAR the high road......

Untill some of these ahhhhhhhhh looney tunes are put down in the act at a school/mall/theatre, etc for the rabid animal they are, these shootings will continue.

Want to know how to secure your schools? Ask Mr. Netanyahou (sp??) how the State of Isreal protects schools in their cities.

The Buckeye Firearms Association has offered to teach school teachers, administrators, etc a 3-day course at NO CHARGE. So far, over 1000 people have expressed interest. Visit www.BuckeyeFirearms.org for more information.

Considering how many of these shooters are suicidal, I doubt that'd be much of a deterrent.

How about we stop mentioning their names? Make them into a nameless psychopath who either committed suicide or was gun downed by police. Turn the attention to the people who deserve our attention during these horrible moments, the victims and their families, not the monsters that commit these acts. No more fifteen minutes of fame or living on in infamy.

State run media will not do that, it goes against their agenda.

Taft, CA is near Bakersfield. Shooter there shot one student with a shotgun, teacher struck by errant pellet(s). Student victim airlifted.

Eric Holder and friends sent guns to Mexican drug cartels.

Criminals in government are capable of anything. To think otherwise, is naive.

Impossible. People aren't allowed to have guns on school grounds. There are signs and everything.

That's to bad, I feel sorry for those kids.

In a school zone in CA none the less:banghead:

It doesn't help that the MSM makes it into a competition to see who can get the highest score.

I don't think the government is behind it, but the narrative we've heard about the past few, namely aurora and sandy hook, it STINKS. There are multiple witness accounts with video(search YouTube) of there being multiple shooters. Surveillance video outside of the movie theater and the elementary school is out there, though it has not been released to the public. We're not getting the whole story.

"I don't think the government is behind it"

I don't, either, but I would not totally discount the possibility that some of these may be instigated by passionate "followers" of the Left Line.

(I composed and posted this before I saw Rustler's remarks.)

I am going to go ahead and totally discount even that possibility. The people are doing this crud because their sick minds want fame and killing a bunch of people is the way to get that. The "jihadist" analogy is not altogether off the mark...if imperfect. They want the eternal salvation (that whole 72 virgins bit) that they believe comes from such an act. Our mass murderers want to shock the whole world. They want the president to stand at the podium and wipe a tear from his eye...even though they won't live to experience either (in most cases). Make no mistake, the Tuscon nut and the Aurora nut may act like clowns in the court but both of those wack-jobs basically have their "72 virgins"...American style...fame/infamy...and they will live a long life in which to enjoy it.

That's why this crud keeps happening. If we just threw them in a hole and tried them out of public view (if they're not already dead), the motivation would decrease. I doubt it would ever go down to zero. Right now it is high.

It's not state run. Saying it is undermines a rational discussion of the issues at hand.

What the media is is a shoddy, unprincipled industry that has degenerated into info-tainment. It currently thrives of shock and emotional stories -- mass shootings, moms who kill their kids, whatever human interest spectacle that breaks today.

Yes, the .gov definitely profits off some of this drama. It may even create the spectacle on occasion (run up to Iraq invasion, Clinton's intern banging, etc.), but mostly it just profits on the fact that the vast majority of Americans just aren't interested in news coverage of complex issues that they either don't understand, or don't get an adrenalin thrill from.

Basically, don't blame the media for being ratings driven, and certainly don't try to pawn the problem off government conspiracies. The real problem is a huge chunk of Americans are too busy or too stupid (and frankly I believe it is mostly the former) to maintain situational awareness of the world around them. So to get viewers to tune in to the 24 hour news cycle instead of purely entertainment programming, the internet, or (God forbid) face to face human interaction or reading a book or something, they default to the most purely emotional and lurid stories available.

Strange, back when I was in school, everybody had at least one rifle in their pickup in the parking lot, usually loaded, and many times would bring a gun into the school to show a teacher or principal.

And yet, we never had any shootings back then!

Something doesn't add up here....
