So I sold the AR-15 that I built today (made ~$500 on the deal) and bought a new bolt action in .223 Rem. I decided on the Savage Model 10 Predator since I already love my Hog Hunter so much.

I've decided that the Nikon 4-12x40 BDC scope I had on the AR will be moved to this new bolt gun, and I'm going to upgrade the scope on my Hog Hunter to be a little more "tactical" and suitable for longer range shooting.

I'd like to get some suggestions on scopes costing $500 or less. I'd like a higher magnification range than the 4-12x40 Nikon, and would like target turrets so I don't have to unscrew the caps to make adjustments. An illuminated reticle would be nice, too.

I'm contemplating some of the scopes in the Vortex lineup.

If you only made $500 somebody got a heck of a deal.

What kind of ranges are you thinking of using the new glass at?

Nice!

I'm looking to sell one of my ARs right now.

The Savage Model 10 Varmint is a nice, nice rifle.

Yea, if I had held out I probably could have gotten more for it. I built it for around $1000-1100 and sold it for $1600.

I'd like to be able to shoot out to 500 yards. A 24x scope might not be necessary for those yardages, so I might look at a higher quality, lower magnification scope.

Here in CT, today, you'd probably be able to unload a $1000 AR for about $2500-$3000 in a matter of seconds...
