Just bought a case of ammo from Miwall today, Winchester Q4369. There is some kind of blue stain/gunk on and around the primers. What is this? Anyone else have a similar problem?

Just shoot it, you be fine.
If you are able, I would stock better ammo and use the WWB only for the range.

I won't even buy WWB for range use. It's probably the worst ammo I've shot. I"ll shoot wolf or tula over it.

I shot WWB .44mag and .45ACP for years before I handloaded. I still have a box or two of each along on most range trips in case someone beside me or my immediate family/friends wants to shoot my guns. Never had an issue with it, reasonably accurate for the price and the brass is great quality for reloads. Used their .44 240gr JSPs for deer hunting and they worked well also. Matter of fact, I love it when I see someone at the range with it, cause it means they probably don't reload and are happy to give me the brass.

There is plenty bad you can say about WWB, but it is still better then Wolf/Tula.
Beside that the dirt will plug up your chamber, I don't like giving money to commies.
Call me old fashion.

Took me a week to get a Wolf .223 out of a customers Bushy just a few month ago.

I only bought 9mm WWB ammo and the wall is too thin to reload.
I tried a few times and by now I just through them right in the recycle bucket.
Don't know on the .44 mag or .45, but the 9mm is just plain junk.

Here's a pic.

Sorry it's blurry, that's the best I can do without a macro lens.
I checked through the entire 500 rounds I bought and all the ammo has the blue stuff on it. I'm suspecting now that this is stuff that failed to meet contract specs.

i only shoot wolf or similar because it always goes bang and it always hits the center of taget

never had any dirt from shooting it but maybe cause i have only shot several hundred thousand rounds of it

havent found any consistent cheap brass that would shoot right were im pointing to replace it yet

i would tell your customer to check extractor and maybe replace it
and to clean more often or do it right

adding the O rings to extractor goes a long way in shooting steel in bushmasters all my bushys like the steel a lot

That must have been a mighty large target!

Well, lets say I am looking critical at this statement!

Either way, I am sure you cleaned your gun every few hundred rounds or it would have FTF.
Even if you do so, you would need to replace on an AR15 your bold head at 3K rounds.
If you do this you do still safe some money.

However you will still shoot the stinky inaccurate dirty ammo and you feed with your purchase some Russian or Chinese.
But I am sure you don't care about this fact, just like you let other people be in the NRA and let them fight your fight to have firearm freedom!

I'm not a fan of Winchester for reloading either. Not many problems with the 45 but the 9 is definitely thin walled compared to Federal and Remington. I have a bunch of speer I need to do so I can't comment on that brand yet in comparison.

As for my problems that led me to my hatred towards Winchester. I've gotten boxes of corroded shells, I have a partial box of 270 ammo that the shoulders on the cartridge are too long and the bolt won't close on 3 guns I've tried it in. Had some 45 go pppphhhhhoooooootttt when It shot and would barely shoot or eject. I've had extraction problems in one of my Mossberg 500's with Winchester. Had extra hard primers in some 22 that wouldn't go bang in any semi auto 22, pistols or rifles. I just have all around bad luck with it. YMMV. Mine just isn't good. I've shot a lot of Federal and Remington. A lot more of it infact compared to Winchester and have had 0 problems that weren't gun related with either of those. Well I take that back. I had one remington shell in a bulk pack have a half a primer.

I shoot .40 WWB often - never had an issue. BUT, I always get boxes of rounds that look like they have been crimped way too much. Can't tell if the bullet is designed that way or not.

Lately some of the WWB 9mm ammo I've gotten at Wally World has been loaded in WCC cases with the NATO cross on it. Other boxes from the same lot are loaded in traditional WIN cases. I know it's all Winchester brass (which I've never found fault with in other pistol calibers). It just struck me as a little strange that I'd find boxes on the same shelf at the same store loaded into two different headstamps.

Another funny thing: even though the boxes are stamped with the same lot number, there are no mixed boxes. In other words, a box will have either all WCC brass, or all WIN.

Q4369 is not what is typically referred to as WWB. Yes, it is Winchester and comes in white boxes, but that is a coincidence. That load uses the same bullet as Q4355, the contemporary FBI load. I am not 100% sure what makes this ammo different than Q4355, but I am sure your ammo is fine. The primer sealant is perfectly normal among better ammunitions. Some companies vary the color from clear to red to blue to black, but it is a waterproofing treatment, and is typically missing on cheaper ammo.

I notices the same blue stuff on my Federal 30-30 primers. At first I thought it might have been corrosion, but thanks to this thread, I now know its purpose. Haha!
