Oh, I am so excited!!

I just received this personal E-Mail from the Vice President, and I just couldn’t wait to share it with all of you. I’m sure you will be impressed the same way that I was. :uhoh:

Hello --
Today President Obama announced a plan to help protect our kids and communities from gun violence. You're going to hear a lot about it, but I wanted to make sure you got a chance to get the facts, straight from me.

After hearing from Americans from across the political spectrum, we decided to focus on some key priorities: closing background check loopholes, banning military-style assault weapons, making our schools safer, and increasing access to mental health services.

The ideas we sent to President Obama are straightforward. Each of them honors the rights of law-abiding, responsible Americans to bear arms. Some of them will require action from Congress; the President is acting on others immediately. But they're all common sense and will help make us a little safer.

Now is the time for all of us to act.

Read about the events that brought us to this point, learn about the plan we've proposed to help protect our kids, and then add your name in support to help build momentum for this plan.

Here's what we've put together:

We're calling for requiring background checks for all gun sales and closing the loopholes that allow dangerous individuals to make their purchase without going through one of these checks.

We're asking for a new, stronger ban on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines that allow a shooter to fire dozens of bullets as quickly as he can pull a trigger. And we're asking Congress to help protect law enforcement by make it illegal for members of the public to possess armor-piercing bullets.

We're going to give law enforcement more tools and resources to prevent and prosecute gun crimes, and we're going to end the freeze on gun violence research that prevents the Center from Disease Control from looking at the causes of gun violence.

We're calling on Congress to help make schools safer by putting up to 1,000 school resource officers and mental health professionals in schools and ensuring they have comprehensive emergency management plans in place.

And we're going to increase coverage so that students and young adults can get access to the mental health treatment they may need.

We know that no policy we enact or law we enforce can prevent every senseless act of violence in our country. But if we can save the life of even one child, we have a deep responsibility to act.

Now is the time to come together to protect our kids. Learn about the plan, then add your name alongside mine:

Thanks,

Vice President Joe Biden

IF they wanted to save at least one life....maybe they should consider the links between psychotropic drugs and blurring of reality/fantasy...and stop trying to disarm the public....

Banning guns will cause many more deaths, since millions of crimes are prevented every year because there was a firearm with a good guy (mostly never even shown and almost never used).
See: http://www.wnd.com/2005/09/32103/
:)

I am tired of gun controlling politicians exploiting tragedies to advance their agendas. The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting, many of our founders fled tyrannical governments and understood the importance of a WELL ARMED militia.
Consider Japans decision not to invade the US because of Admiral Yamamoto's observations while in the US, he stated if we invade the US there would be a gun pointed at our troops behind every rock and tree. He was correct.
I see these mass shootings as acts of terror against the US Constitution.
What is the definition of terrorism ? And are these gun grabbing politicians breaching their oath to uphold the Constitution ?

I replied with, what happened to " Mr.Obama, you won't take my Beretta" and how these rifle are attributed to less than 6% of gun crime. They both sicken me with their lies and filth. I guess all of the people killed with pistols and blunt weapons etc, are not as important as the one "cut down by these vicious mass murder machines".. I tried to unsubscribe but it will not let me.

It is exactly like cooking a chilie.. If you heat it too much it burn and is worthless, but raise the heat slowly, let it simmer, then turn it up a little more and you can get that chilie hot without burning it. They are letting the firearm ban plans simmer right now, but mind these words, the first chance they will add more heat.

My analogy is about the American people buying into this. They are slowly turning even some gun lovers in anti "military rifle" people. They achieve this with their speeches and media. Soon enough the majority of Americans will be calling for an outright ban and confiscation of weapons that look bad...

True; there is correlation between anti-depressants, or related drugs, and homicidal/suicidal behavior. If memory serves me right some worst shooting in the past five years have committed by people that were on some form of prescribed mental medication.

There are so many more ways we could save so many more lives without infringing on Constitutional rights. But then, life itself is unsafe; we all will someday die. The notion that we can make anything or anybody completely safe is as silly as the one that says we can make everyone equal.

"if it just saves one life, we have a deep responsibility to act"..........from a pro-abortionist? Whose boss voted AGAINST the "born alive" bill? (if a baby survives the abortion, it would receive life saving medical attention.) Obama said "Nope!"

Arrogant hypocrites all.

"We're calling on Congress to help make schools safer by putting up to 1,000 school resource officers and mental health professionals in schools and ensuring they have comprehensive emergency management plans in place."

And there are ONLY 98,817 public schools in the us. So that will cover about 10% of them.

Was it written in crayon?

The original, yes, along with some inappropriate stick figure drawings. An aid typed it up.

Wat?

"I support the Second Amendment, but..." is code for "Mr. & Mrs. America, turn 'em all in!"

Free abortion for all and no guns for anybody but us!

Gee, I wonder what agenda our government has for us!

Way off topic. I'm sure there's another board somewhere for that sort of discussion, but IMHO it isn't High Road.

Hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil, sorry I am not a monkey.
In order to solve a problem you must understand its cause.

It's VERY interesting that they're talking about that old "cop killer bullet" BS. As far as I've been able to ascertain, there has NEVER been a cop killed by a vest penetration from an AP handgun round.

When Biaggi came up with that grandstanding garbage back in the early 80s, very few people even knew about cops wearing concealable body armor, once the BG's learned about it due to all the publicity, I believe that there was a jump in the number of cops killed by head shots.
It's a dodge to basically ban about 20% of handgun calibers and virtually 100% of rifle rounds since even a .22 magnum rimfire from a rifle will blow slap through a 2A vest.

I think that all the "mental health" talk is really terrifying, it sounds like they've come up with a way to incarcerate anyone that argues publicly about the right to keep and bear arms, or anything else the administration doesn't want to hear.

It was also interesting to find out that Dr/patient privilege no longer exists according to our new Fuhrer.

This whole thing is a bunch of BS with absolutely NO indication that, "it's for the children". As far as that goes, if someone wanted to, they could probably walk into a grammer school with a crowbar or machete and kill more than 20 little kids unless there was a really quick armed response or a really tough teacher. Little kids just would not be all that hard to kill if a person were crazy enough to want to do it.

The most disgusting thing about this whole tragic farce is watching all of the anti gun elements gleefully using a backdrop of murdered children to advance their political agenda.

It'd be very interesting to see a video of what the private reactions of some of those people were when they first learned of this attack.

The really sad thing is that there are people who claim to be pro gun that are swallowing all of this codswollap about banning "assault weapons", all the while thinking that their hunting rifles are safe.

I personally trust and have full faith that Obama, Feinstein and all of their cohorts will never try to ban or restrict our access to "normal" hunting rifles.

Can anyone say:
"Extremely powerful, military style sniper rifles capable of killing innocent children from over a thousand yards away and that can defeat police body armor".

Because THAT'S what they're gonna call 'em.

But I have no real opinion on this subject...

"Extremely powerful, military style sniper rifles capable of killing innocent children from over a thousand yards away and that can defeat police body armor".
You wouldn't be talking about my 338-378 Weatherby magnum would you ? thats a huntin rifle :scrutiny:

here in texas most schools either have thier own school police or have regular pd in the schools already

Oh, yeah, what we need next, you doctor can now ban you from owning guns
last I hear, that was the Courts purview... but hey, who needs due process.

wait, kiddie touches, rapist, thieves....
gun owners... nope

this is what scares me the most. Next thing you know anybody who has a gun for defense is paranoid and needs meds, well there just went your right to own firearms.

This is absolutely off topic but needs to be said no matter your personal beliefs on the issue, they have two inconsistent beliefs. They believe it is okay to murder children in the womb but not in the classroom. The sane and rational mind cannot hold two things that contradict to be both true, either
A. They are mentally unstable
B. They are lying about one of the two.

That's 1%.

He wants to put "up to 1,000" cops and shrinks in public schools, but according to the National Center for Education Statistics, there were 98,817 public schools during the 2009-2010 school year.

Can you say "drop in the bucket"?

Apparently this is off topic, btw. Not sure if for legal, or GDD, or THR in general. Asked about this one, still awaiting response.....

I got the same "personal" letter from the VP. I'm going to respond with how disappointed I am that government is not addressing the core issues of violence in our society. First, we are in the midst of a mental health crisis and you can't get a crazy any help till they kill or injure themselves or others. And secondly government should address the sadistic violence in on screen movies and video games.
