The petition to establish gun free zones around the President and Vice President has gained the required 25,000 signature to require an official response from. Designed to protect the children and as a solution to violence in the tradition of Jonathan Swift, the petition points out the hypocrisy of a political and media elite that claim that it is "crazy" to have armed people in schools to protect children, while making certain that their children are in schools protected by armed guards.

Why would we want our Commander and Chief not protected. About the dumbest thing I have seen. A total waste of time. I do like the stats chart on thew site.

I will never understand why people would use this argument. I think it makes gun advocates look ignorant.

You're missing the whole point.... We don't want it to actually happen. We just want them to admit that OUR children need the same protection as theirs.

Guess that is your opinion....but I think it makes perfect sense in showing their hypocrisy.

The safety of politicians is WAY down my list of priorities....

From a liberal left point of view I guess all gun owners are ignorant.

I'd sign it just to throw the hypocracy back in their faces.

"The White House just lifted the number of signatures required to 100,000 a few days ago..."

How Conveeeenient.

While I understand your disdain for politicians and the Commander and Chief. The comparison is way off in my opinion. And its sad to think that the safety of our politicians is way down your list.

One of President Obama's executive orders is to provide incentives to increase the number of school resource officers in schools so apparently he is not opposed to the idea of having armed personnel guard schools.

It's sad that you don't see that the comparison is extremely apt.

Their safety is no more important than our safety. Their safety is not as important as the rights of the people. It's sad that you don't understand that.

From someone outside your country, I wonder why any citizen (elected or otherwise) is entitled to more protection than any one of the country's citizens???

All I wish is that any law that is passed by politicians apply to them as well.
For instance;
If we are limited by law to restrictions to our weapons, so should they.
If we are limited by law to restricted medical care, so should they.

I believe it's time that the elected officials are treated no better or worse than the citizens they work "For".

Yep, 1,000!

How many schools in your state? In Florida we have over 3,600 public schools.

The cost to place one LEO in each school here would top $350 million. Where is that money going to come from? Maybe they can mint up a couple more of those trillion-dollar coins!

Oh, and the only thing these White House petitions accomplish is showing the government how many uneducated, ignorant people there are in the country. One example is that 34,435 morons signed a petition to have the US build a DeathStar.:scrutiny:

They are an incredible waste of time. But, every man hour wasted by the Whitehouse on inane petitions is a man hour not spent drawing up gun control measures.

The safety of this tyrant is not important. I don't care about his personal safety. If he does, he can hire personal guards and have them protect him in whatever LEGAL manner is available in Washington.

Do you honestly think that anyone of importance/status within the White House actually looks at those petitions or drafts any responses? The are staffed out to a low level flunky, guaranteed!

Supposedly Biden's Chief of Staff responded to the one urging them not to enact any new legislation. Then again, some people already think Biden is a low level flunky.

Politicians can be replaced more easily than any particular citizen. The loss of a citizen is unique; the loss of a politician is subject to easily replacement by way of an appointment, or voting in another one.

I've figured about $100,000 per school per year for a police officer ( or any armed union person)
but tasers are ~500 each. add a wall safe for each yields a set up cost of about 10,000 per school plus annual expense of $100 each for maintenance.
training for those who want to sit in the emergency exit row---classrooms at the end of each wing/ each floor and the main office plus a carbine in the principals office...training would likely be donated by NRA instructors or given their dislike for 'us', local police.

me quote sources....18 years of instructing gives me the numbers: 1 superintendent, 5 principals ( only 1 elementary), 2 mayors and a gaggle of lesser officials who took the course from me cause my classes, hence their names and the fact that they have a permit, are private.

id like to discuss the concept of taser's & training. anyone?
