It's not in jeopardy...... Is it a price thing? I can't find 22 on the shelves anywhere.

I think people are picking it up as a periphery or impulse buy while they are purchasing their 5.56, 9mm, 45acp, etc...

I almost bought a bucket of it the other day just because it was there, but in short supply. Then I remembered that I didn't need .22 and stopped myself. It is easy to get caught in the hoopla. I

That's sounds about right. After all, no matter what I'm there to buy, a box of 22 always comes home with me lol.

didn't think I'd ever see 22LR going for >$15 per box of 50.

They will only come after the lowly 22LR after they have everything else. No worries about 22LR ammo for the foreseeable future... In fact, it'll probably become more popular and production will ramp up if an AWB goes into effect.

Everything other than .22's is either expensive (overpriced according to supply/demand deniers) or scarce. So .22 is the next logical caliber that EVERYONE owns... Thus the scarcity.

I very pleased with my new Ruger MK III I picked up last week. That's the good news.
Now all I need is ammo...lol. :uhoh::eek:

I stopped by a local wally world today, the shelves were bare. Funny, in 2009 everybody was having trouble finding .380 ammo. That was the only thing left in the ammo cabinet. About 10 boxes. Well, and a couple boxes of .357 mag.

Your Wally had 357 mag?! Lucky. We have a few 380, few 38spl (thankfully) and a very few 45ACP. All of these were ball. Those will be gone by the weekend, the lady told me.

What I can't figure out is the complete outage of .308 I've seen everywhere.

As cost of centerfire has shot up, many are shooting more rimfire for practice and recreation.

I just got 3750 rounds of Mini-mag delivered yesterday. Very hard to come by in 100rd boxes, but the 375rd bulk packs can still be had. Buying ten got me free shipping.

One of our local pistol clubs started doing .22 2-gun matches just this year. Probably going to get more common as prices continue to rise.

I have no way of proving it, but I suspect this latest round of sky-rocketing gun sales includes a lot of first time buyers and that a lot of them are buying .22's (like my son-in-law). Thus, even more demand for .22LR.

I also feel it's due to a concern that tax will be added at some point soon to each round. .22 tends to be sold in larger count boxes, so they are buying to avoid paying 29 bucks for the same box that's 15 now.

Don't know but I wish people would not hoard stuff they don't need to hoard... I was trying to prepare for an upcoming trip and we were going to do some fun camp side target shooting with .22 lr's and now I am trying everything to get my hands on some but everyone is either "OUT" or only allowing 2 boxes per person it's crazy! I expected 5.56X45mm, 5.45X39mm, 7.62X39mm for sure, but .22 LR.... "REALLY!" :cuss:

That can't be true, you're in TEXAS!!! I thought even Starbucks sold ammo in Texas!

Because everybody has a .22 and they want to plink since they're hanging onto their center fire ammo.

People have millions of .22 guns, it is relatively cheap as ammo goes, a lot can be put in a small space.....and folks are scared they won't be able to get it as the supply sells out for the time being. I back ordered a case of my favorite .22 bulk ammo a day or two after the presidents big announcement. I was getting low.

Shooting .22 Lr has becoming increasingly popular over the last 4 years as other ammo has gone up in price. Some folks have been buying .22 guns and others have been dusting theirs off and shooting them more.

Sorry to burst your bubble but it has been a pain and oh, do I wish every coffee shop in Texas sold ammo. (Buy a Latte, get a box of 20 .22 LR's while you wait!)

Funny thing is I really doubt I spelled Latte right... I don't even really know what a Latte or whatever is?

All i can say, Good luck finding .22 LR ammo. You d be lucky to find one in 50 rd box within 50 miles of where you are right now. If you find one, expect to pay a little more.

Plus the limited supply of 'real' ammo is contributed by the government purchasing millions of rounds for God knows what.

While I think they're preparing for something, I don't believe it's motivated by trying to keep ammo out of our hands, but wouldn't it be fitting? Take away the ammo, the guns aren't very useful are they?
