Regniflow: You need to post your Remington picture in this thread and the ROA picture in the THR ROA club thread. We don't mind if the Remington picture also contains an ROA, nor does the ROA club mind if the picture you post there also contains a NMA, so if they're both in one picture, it will serve for both clubs.

ya! welcome atlast Rattus.

I always go on about synchronisity and THR so I look this morning and see your photo after last night talking to "The Boy" about the combat use of the Kukri. ALso I had a Tom that color for a bit. He was a hoot and also had to check anything going on around the house.

Kukri.... :D Now thats primitive.... hehe.... I have a Parang that my Uncle gave me from Penang made from a Lorry spring right after the second world war.... which didn't end there for years after with the commies trying to take over .... I use this thing around my yard and it is the most amazing tool.. go through an inch and a half on its own weight....

"Snacks" on the other hand, the only weight he carries might be the flea or two we find when he gets in from playin with the dogs... :D

Thank you... Aloha...

Perfect... thank you... I'll try it... I'm thinking of also of trying the .45 ACP bullet as well just fer grins....

Much Aloha....

Nice. Now, it's time to order a genuine Khukuri. Himalayan Imports makes every type of Khuk you could possibly want. All hand made in Nepal.
I have a few of their knives and love them. One of my Khuks is their Bonecutter Khukuri.
IIRC, it's 3/8" thick at the spine, at it's thickest point. It's a beast.
How do you like that Bear Grylls Khuk? I've thought about getting one.

I like it a lot... its done a ton of clearing for me and compared to the cane knife I was using what a time and energy saver.... Like others, it cuts with its own weight and is really pleasant. I've cut up to 5" limbs with it so far, and that for me is about the most I'm willing to really tackle before giving in to carbon technology... :) I don't doubt for a minute that it wouldn't tackle much more.

I love the forward weight of the thing and for all around work its great... For doing things like shaping and scraping or turning a branch into kindling... not so much for me... and that could be experience. The blade isn't as tough as I expected it to be, but then I'm clearing guava mostly and that stuffs a witch... but its easy to sharpen. I was thrown by the concave blade, if that is what you call it.... and I gave up trying to figure it out and took a file to it.... :)

I'd buy another at this point if this one goes to pieces... but its doing the journeyman work that I'm not... :)

Himalayan Imports... I'll look them up... thank you for the tip!

Aloha.....

Rattus:

I treasure my Kukris about as much as my Rems and ROAs.
I just hope some idiot doesn't go berserk and create mayhem with one.
The Government would probably try to ban them.

Went in to a local pawn shop today to pay out a Bubba-fied SKS (My way to celebrate Firearm Appreciation Day) and bumped into a fine older Pietta that had someone's (hispanic) name engraved on both sides of the muzzle. I was willing to overlook that, as the price was a mere $89.00.
Anyway, "Don Fernando" is a fine name for an 1858 from the Border.
So now it's on lay-away - gives me something to look forward to.

Piettia Case hardened frame?

Has anyone bought the Checkered Grip, Case hardened '58 yet?
In the pictures it looks good on Cabelas site but I am afraid the really wild colors might be just a one-off gun and others would be plain...
I want to get one but am a bit short ($) yet. Maybe by the time I get it saved. they will be on sale!

I have a 8" and a 5 1/2" now and I really like the balance and handling of the short bbl!
Sorry I can't get a picture to stick or I'd put one up here. Not good with computers!
I load 35 gr of Pyrodex with a felt patch and a 451 ball ,ignited with Remington Caps. A good stout load that is pretty accurate. It seems that if I load semi heavy the revolver shoots more accuratelly. Is this normal for Remingtons??? Nevertheless I like the feeling of shooting a powerfull load similar to what the old timers shot! If I wanted, there is room to go to 40 gr of powder but I haven't done that yet.
If I had to choose one revolver to9 carry, it'd be the 5 1/2" Remington with a smokless powder cylinder as a back-up. I like shooting the BP best smoke and smell, reloading and measuring every shot, how relaxing!

I've seen 'Django Unchained' three times now! :D

The 1858 Remington seems to be the most prominent firearm in the film, though there is one scene involving a stainless model and I could tell there were no caps on it  Great movie though, in my opinion. Also featured were an 1858 Remmy carbine, plenty of 1851s, a Sharps rifle, and a couple o' 1860 Henry rifles :)

Ya think?
Was almost like he fired the prop master and then wrote himself into the last scene.......

Kinda hard to have a DRAMATIC shoot-out with percussion rifles though!

I know...Hysterically Correct!
Ain't seen it, not gonna. the scene with one glove in the winter...come on, a pre Civil War Michael Jackson? Give me a FLIPPEN BREAK, if ya can't shoot with gloves on ya ought not be carrying a gun period, in the winter, or anytime, fer Crap sakes!
Glad he used Remy's, but I "might" see it when it comes out on Netflixs for a buck or so.

HH send me an email we need to talk conversions.

Old Dragoon (aka Halfway Creek Charlie) Remy's from 2006 and two new ones.

OK Mykeal' I got tired of not being allowed to be "part" of the Remy Club. I was a forum member back in 2006 and here are 3 of my Remy's I had then.

My first try at conversion with Kirst Converter. This had to be an Uberti due to the scoop at the breech and the fact I never owned a Pietta.
OldDragoons58withKirstPortedConversion1_zps4e409a3d.jpg

My very first Gunslinger, made from the pistol above.
CharliesGunslinger1_zps7563cf05.jpg

My 2nd and 3rd Remy Gunslingers, Notice how all three still have the Loader and retention pin. these two also have theejectors and you will see two different lengths of ejector tubes.
CharliestwoGunslingers1_zps60ec31c3.jpg

The secret to keeping the loader and retention pin is shown below. First cylinder/ejector pin hinged downward. Don't know how Uberti or Pietta do it on their 5 1/2 inch pistols

And the new ones here. the Remy Sisters. Better pictures when I can up load them.

Lousy (from GB),picture of my new to me(1971) Euroarms Remington - Beals Elliot's Transition Model to NMA (2nd Remington - Beals frame type) Actual pistol home now is much, much better than the lighting allows tis to show.
Euroarms58Remy1_zpsf3f35ecf.jpg

And the picture of the new to me 1980 Armi San Paolo Remington - Beals Elliot's Transition Model to NMA (2nd Remington - Beals frame type)
ArmiSanPaolo58Remy_zps47f2a32e.jpg

In case you are wondering. I did quite a bit of research upon which model that Armi San Paolo used for their rendition of the "58 Remy, as it has the barest of relief at the breech. Original R - B Frames had NO relief, 2nd model frame has the barest of relief, and the third and last model R - B frames had the scoop. In the last 6 months of R-B production, all three frames were used with the NMA hammer and the NMA loader sail.

This second frame Remington - Beals Elliot's Transition Model to NMA (2nd Remington - Beals frame type) is what Armi San Paolo made and sold, and sold to Euroarms. You find, like I just did that the Armi San Paolo and the Euroarms pistols over lap in mfg. dates until 1990 when Armi San Paolo was purchased by Euroarms. Both my new pistols are marked Bressica which is now understood.

I am saddened that Euroarms sold out to Pedersoli and this model is no longer produced.
