If I buy a gun through online , I need a FFL dealer to transfer it ( import),
because the weapon can't directly send to an individual. but if I found the gun is not working or has big problem and want to return, It is said I can send it directly to the company through UPS . Do I still need to concern through FFL dealer ? What can the dealer do for me in this point? I think I have to pay FFL fee plus S &H, it is too expensive.
Thanks!

The manufacturer is in the USA, correct?

If so, then you don't need an FFL. You'll need to contact the manufacturer (or GunSmith) before shipping to get their instructions.

If it's a handgun, you can NOT use USPS.

Only the person doing the receiving needs to have an FFL. (some states may vary)

If you're talking about sending it back for warranty work, you don't need to send it through an FFL. If it's a handgun, you'll need to send it via UPS Air or FedEx Air, but an FFL can send it USPS and save quite a bit. If you bought it from an individual without an FFL and want to return it, you'll have to send it to an FFL on his end. (If you do UPS or FedEx, you don't have to do Express, but can do 2nd day air and save a bunch.)

It sounds like you bought it from a company which I assume has an FFL. If they agree it's defective, have them set up the shipping back to them.

Just to clarify, import generally refers to receiving an item from a foreign country and export means send to a former country.

morcey2,

It is a S&W 915 9mm , 20 more years gun. they just said S& H is not refunable. but the gun fee should be refunded- re-stocking fee?

You may directly ship it to the manufacturer, no FFL needed. They can also ship it back to you, no FFL needed.

An FFL will save you money, though. They'll usually charge ~$25 to ship it, where UPS us double or triple that.

MtnCreek and Smalls,

Do you know how S & W will charge for this kind old weapon if need fix ? Can they only charge shipping+parts or need to charge other ?

I think you'll need to talk to S&W to see what they're going to charge you...I seriously doubt they'll try to charge you anything that's questionable. They're a reputable manufacturer.

Whats wrong with it???? Age has little to do with the equation, a well taken care of firearm should outlast you... (With exception of replacement parts availability.)

Your posts are confusing and ambiguous, what exactly are you trying to do?

You really need to talk to S&W.
