I had a group of buddies over today. we shot more ammo than we should have but had a blast. The surprise hit was my MPA380 "Protector II". We shot over 150 rounds through the gun with 100% reliability.

The gun's sights are simply a channel cut the length of the slide and barrel and take a little getting used to. After a few mags I dialed it in. And backed up a few feet at a time until I was shooting MOC (minute of can) at 22'.

The ported barrel makes for a smooth shooting gun with very light recoil. Follow up shots were quicker than with my LCP. The gun was consistent and the trigger predictable, albeit long.

I practiced drawing it from my back wallet pocket and shooting at 20' for 20+ shots and felt good about being able to draw and fire quickly.

The last shot was a Coke Zero can with an attitude at 20'. I drew, acquired the sight picture and fired. I was able to hit it solid near the bottom with a large exit hole at the top. The results were impressive with Winchester PDX1.

Well, I think you're just being silly in raising the possibility of a Coke can assaulting you... now, that Red Bull - there's a threat and harder to hit as well.

Great shots - in both meanings.

By my standards, that's fantastic photography. We must have old school digital cameras, I guess, because every time my wife tries to catch my kids while they twirl at the dance recital or shoot the basketball, well...she hits the button and about 3 seconds later the camera clicks and flashes. And by that time, the action has ceased.

I've noticed that .380 is about the last ammo available at Walmart, so I guess you made the right caliber choice. Love the gun. Looks like fun!

That is a New York politician's worst nightmare.

So much soda... :neener:

Seems to come in cycles. It wasn't too long ago you couldn't find .380 on the shelf anywhere. Now everyone is buying guns with larger mags while they can.

Thanks for the pic compliment. They were taken from an IPhone.

This one is my favorite.

Try shooting bowling balls when I used to live in California I knew a guy who worked at an alley and would give us the old beat up balls. You'll be surprised how much fun they are to shoot. But nice looking gun, nice shooting, and nice pictures!

I used to shake cans of orange soda before hitting them with my BB gun. Twas fun.

Yeah, they had it comin'....

Your saying that this pistol with it's blowback action has less recoil than a locked breach LCP? I find that hard to believe.

I just checked to see what I could find on this pistol at youtube to see how the recoil looks and I found this video which leaves men even less impressed.

I am saying that this pistol, with a ported barrel has less recoil.

The gun in your video is not the same gun. The gun in your video is not a Protector II. It does not have the ported barrel or the beavertail. They make a difference. I bought one of the original Protectors last year and found that it flipped up harshly and that it bit my thumb.

Ok this calls for a shoot off. Three cans of soda at 20 feet. Draw, fire ASAP. Movie required. Winner gets bragging rights as to which gun recoils less.

Nice shooting jbabbler. Thanks for the pix.

First of all the porting in these guns has nothing to do with reducing recoil or muzzle flip.

The porting is for timing purposes and is there to retard the blowback action.

I have a Micro Desert Eagle which also has the so called porting and it is much more punishing to shoot than any of the locked breach pocket 380's, but I will say it has been utterly reliable.

This video pretty much shows the exaggerated muzzle flip of these blowback actions….
