Single aught buck shot. I am loading the cylinder off the gun to prevent damage to the loading lever and such. I plan to try to cast some bullits with a cheap brass round ball/ conical (one of each) mold once I decide how to protect my hands.

I have some suspect fishing sinkers I plan to melt in a yard sale pan over the otherwise retired gas grill so as to damage nothing valuable if there is zinc or aluminium contamination.

The chambers on mine are right at .315. So. I use balls that are .319 or .323. can't remember for certain.

Are the land and groove measurements from DGW accurate? They list them at .310 and .326 respectively. That would leave a lot of daylight around a .315 ball.

How does yours shoot accuracy wise?

If you want the very best get some of the swagged Hornady's. Lee has a mold that can make both a conacol(sp?) and ball, at a reasonable price too.

I've never seen a Lee Conical mold for a .31 Cap & Ball. Did they make one previously? I know Pedersoli makes a reproduction mold with a ball and conical, good for plinking and mostly for show.

Hornady only offers a .315 round ball and if the Pietta's chambers are .315, well then that's not going to work. Several shops offer .319-.323 round balls, hence my question.
