Does anyone know where I might find any shellplates for common calibers (.223,45,9mm) in stock? MidwayUSA is showing the #45 shellplate as being backordered through 1/2014 !!!

Find the Hornady part numbers and Google using that. I went through the same problem in 2008 that you are having. Be patient.

Try E-Bay, there are some listed for between $80 and $125 for the LNL press:)
Amazing, one 223 shellplate was listed and the bid went up to $84--don't really know what the final bid was.

Holy Cow :what:

That has to be a misprint, at least I hope so. I back-ordered a couple other shell plates from them and their other estimate dates are the same day, but for this year.

While it's not perfect, the #1 plate can be used for .45 ACP, and is sometimes wasier to find. You just have to go a little slower with it.

That's how I started when I got my lnl.

If you really, really need one just PM and I'll call my supplier tomorrow to see if he has one in stock up here.

It won't be cheap since I think they cost me $42.95 + our lovely 15.5% tax but it may get you out of a bind.

+1 on the #1 as a temporary fix for the #45 I have both. I saw that the #1 was originally used for 45ACP as well as .308, but recently, they made a dedicated #45 plate for the former. I've tried loading 45ACP on the #1 plate and it worked just fine.
I've also run 9mm on the #10 plate (usually used for 40 S&W or 10mm) and it also works as long as you take it slow and careful.

I managed to get a #1 from amazon that should ship in a week... I just received my press 2 weeks ago. The only shellplate I have right now is the #9 and I hardly shoot .38/.357 :(

Still keeping my eye out for a #16 or a #8

I've been reloading all calibers on a pair of single stage presses for years now so making ammo is no problem. Its just annoying to have a fancy new progressive press and unable to use it for the calibers I shoot most often.
