I slapped a cheap red/green dot scope on my Rossi .22 single-shot, got it sighted in at the range, and just about made a fool of myself there on the 100 yd gong.
"crack... tink!... giggle..." "crack... tink!... giggle"

I'm amazed at how that cheap li'l truck gun hits at that range, and while I haven't grouped it at 50 yards yet, I'm pretty sure it'll take a squirrels nuts.... right out his paws.

Since we have a bunch of wise cracks in here how about a little fairtail about regulations on just what concealed carry firearms you could have on your person on flights never leaving the United States and how 911 never happened because of it.

I'd like to get some sleep tonight!

Edit: Oops, news, not stories, my bad!

My wife stole a gun from me. She laid claim to my PPK, which floored me. Its a good story because she has been vehemently opposed to semi autos, preferring revolvers for their simplicity.

I think I can live with that.

I'm glad that distinction was made because I've seen some others that would be easy pickin's out to 100.

Two great things for me, in order:

1) I took an apathetic/anti-gun leaning person to the range and helped her get over her fear of firearms. I don't know if I changed her politics, but she did say it took the fear away from weapons as inanimate objects and replaced that with respect when she learned how to safely handle and shoot one.

Distant 2nd) Ordered a Glock 20 SF at standard pricing, supporting my LGS and guaranteeing me standard capacity magazines. Good for them, good for me, and no panic pricing.

The 200 rounds of 'British' .303 was actually processed and delivered after two weeks. I never called them, having assumed that the on-line (0100 Central) order had been lost.

Apparently the lack of .223, 7.62x39 etc ammo has forced people to shoot their obsolete, bolt-action Battle Rifles. Is this strange?
Why didn't they keep a heap of extra ammo, knowing (or they should have been aware of) who resides in the White House, waiting to exploit any tragedy?

1) The prices for this .303 were pre-panic, which is why the ammo was ordered.
2) The next good news will be to find a stainless, nice Used Sig 230/232 in west TN for a FTF sale.

A woman I'm helping with her shooting decided she wanted a AR. I taught her how to shoot the AR. She said she would get one on the way from work sometime during the week.
The next day she bought just the gun she wanted.
I had a bad feeling and sure enough the bottom fell out two days later and AR's and everything else dried up over night. She got her gun just in time.

For a long while I've been free with giving ammo to new shooters, friends and young people that shoot on my range.
Heck I won't pay $10.00-$20,00 plus for a box of store bought ammo that's gone in a hour or less shooting and I could afford it.

So now I'm giving even more free ammo to friends, like the .223 lady, that can't find any.
Lucky I'm one of those bad guy "hoarders" that some people complain about.:)

i moved to florida 15 years ago FROM nyc... I CARRY EVERYWHERE EVERYDAY.. a friend just said he found 800 rounds of 357 that i could have for free ... (all his guns were stolen 10 years ago and he never replaced them)..

I actually get to use my guns today. Headin out for some rabbit hunting in a few. Great news. : )

Its raining though... one of the less than 30 days it will rain in 2013 in central Arizona. Damn odds were in our favor.

In the past two weeks I picked up a new M1A National Match, 5 twenty round mags, and 3100 rounds of various .308 ammo from budget Russian (.35/rd), to Federal Gold Match ($1.47/rd). The prices were all normal retail, and the longest wait for delivery (from CMP) was about ten days. Good timing, a few hours on the Internet and the road led to good results.

Walked into my LGS and they had 5.56!!!!
30 rnd boxes on clips, $30/per box

would have bought some but my rifle is .223 not 5.56

1 - Got some new shooters to the range

2 - Got a deal on Carbine ammo at my sooper-sekrit source, cheaper than $0.40/round and lake city ammo! No .223/5.56 at the sooper-sekrit source this time, though. I was able to hook up a buddy with some 30.06, though, and made a profit of less than a dollar on that delivery. (if you know the sooper-sekrit source, keep quiet about it anyway)

3 - Right after #2 ... Found someone with an M1 Carbine at my club's mini-gunshow, for a reasonable price!
-It had no magazine, the seller promised he would get the mag to me as soon as he found it, I assumed I'd never hear from the dude again (minor annoyance, I have a LOT of carbine mags already)
--that afternoon, he found it, called me, and we met up somewhere handy for both - my faith in humanity is a tiny bit restored!

4 - Got all the guns and ammo moved incident-free, and more organized now. I only have 4-6 ammo cans to sort out left and I'll have everything set up for easy grab&go

5 - Snagged a PacLite lightweight 8.5" barrel for one of my target pistols, the gun now looks and shoots like a ray-gun, bowling pins beware, come spring!

6 - related to #4 ... I have enough ammo to ride out the current stupid panic buying, if it tapers off like it did in previous panics. I'm not letting up on my legislators, but at least I'm not the poor slob getting ripped off for a box of plinking ammo to go with the gun I got ripped off on.

Bought a Beretta 92FS locally NIB for a great price. The dealer had 25 of them in stock.

I bought some ammo today - .308, .22LR, and a box of .38 Special. I didn't "need" it, but I want to do a little practice when a warm day presents itself again. I also snagged an extra 10/22 ten round magazine just because.

I made it a point to buy something today from my local dealer and also had a good, reaffirming conversation with the owner. The guy has helped me out with small things on guns lately and not charged me, so I wanted to support him.

Went to visit our son on Mount Desert Island last weekend. On our way through Ellsworth I stopped at Willey's Sport Center and scored a nice set of used 9mm Luger reloading dies for a very fair price. I also found some 9mm Winchester white box ammo in stock at the Biddeford Walmart the weekend before.

I hadn't been in any gun shop since early December until last weekend. (I tend to avoid them when possible at certain times such as this.)
My brother was looking for a specific model CZ .22 so we stopped to see what they may have. They didn't have exactly what he wanted, but they did have plenty of Brownells 20 & 30 rd magazines at $45 each...sheesh.. (bet they still have plenty)

On a brighter note; I was able buy some muzzleloader supplies at very fair prices.

The good news: They had a fellow near the main entrance handing out contact info and explaining the importance of letting the elected "leaders" know how we feel & to remind them that we'll not forget what actions they take.
