goofy new thing from USFA.
Yes, that USFA, the single-action revolver folks ... strange, I know.

It takes cheap .22lr ammo and 10/22 magazines, which I have dozens of in various capacities.
I want one as a toy, it doesn't have any practical purpose I can think of except turning .22lr ammo into fun, smoke, and noise.
 
i saw these linked from endo's blog. They look interesting. I might pick one up just for the novelty of it all. IF you attach it to a rifle you need a stamp, though

as for the .22LR, rumor has it was once a supremely popular do-all cartridge that was ubiquitous among gun owners. I wouldn't know, i haven't been able to buy any of this fabled rimfire cartridge for months now.
 
This must be a step off to offer something similar in a larger caliber. As far as military, I could see a benefit to having one attached to a rifle in 9mm or 45acp, for quick transfer from close combat to mid or far range firefight. But what are they going to do with 22lr. Neat toy, for the price I'd most likely own one.
 
Mabye I just lack imagination but assuming this is a handgun I see absolutely no means to wich you'd hold onto this "thing"

What am is missing? Or perhaps not given the absolute lack of any pictures of this "thing" being held by human hands on the interweb

Let me see if I have this straight you have a 5.56 chambered carbine pointed at a potential threat yet you decide that a LESS effective round would be the better choice.

No Dale, I didn't think that, but if you watched the demo they attach the zip to an AR of some sort on the lower rail and show a demonstration of transfer from shooting 5.56 to 22lr.
I would assume they have plans of moving to larger calibers for that to be effective but then again I didn't make the Zip and am not advocating it. I too am in the position you are in trying to justify its use in that manor.
Watch the video and it will show it being shot as a handgun and as an attachment.
 
It looks like they have taken North American Arm's idea of miniaturizing guns and turning them into 22 and applied it to the Bullpup rifle. It would appear to be a Bullpup for toddlers. Finally, those who are "toilet trained at gunpoint" can fight back!

Seems sort of like a proof-of-concept prototype, except they're selling it. :scrutiny: A weapon-ish thing you can shoot as a pistol or attach to a rifle, though then you have a 30" long rifle with a 2" barrel and no idea of how you would regulate the attach-a-gun to shoot to your primary sights' point of aim.

Proof that folks will sell, and buy, anything. Anything at all.
 
o.k., well that review relieved me of any and all curiosity. Just looks like a plastic box o crap now.
 
It's a gimmick, I saw it a few months ago. Like for the man who already has every freaking thing stuck to his AR already. Like sights, scope, red dot, quad rail, bipod, flashlight, laser, can opener, and now this thing. It's totally rediculous, supposed to be for close up "if the guy is still alive" stuff. Why anyone would want or feel compelled to buy this is beyond me.
A shotgun type gizmo, would make more sense.
 
Pardon my ignorance, but I had to look long and hard before figuring out what way one is supposed to point it to avoid shooting their self in the face. I still don't understand how you're supposed to shoot it.

This makes two of us. Its sorta like a broomhandle Mauser turned round backwards where they forgot the broomhandle.

I guess now that I'm on wifi I must waste a little more of my life watching the video of this "thing"

They're going to make a fortune on these. Selling them to the SyFy Channel. :D
 
Again, I'm seeing this as an interesting proof-of-concept in ultra minimalism. What's the least amount of material and parts we can assemble that will fire .22 LR rounds from a large-capacity magazine.

Neat as an experiment. Lousy as a gun.
 
Not that I'm against novel ideas, but I thought it looked like it was made out of Legos and then smoothed over with epoxy or something.

I, like others, wonder what my fingers would think if it came into my hand. It would probably confuse them no end. Even the smart one.
