He is capable. But I think it will depend on the final bill. But I don't think politically he wants associated with the AWB yet.

The entire hearing was painful to watch. Taking a very serious discussion and putting time restraints on complicated and loaded questions is absurd. James Johnson came away looking like an idiot in spite of being an officer for so many years. With an inept chief like him, it's no wonder crime is so high in his area. At least everyone else on the panel seemed to have a brain, whether I agreed with them or not. Johnson was really out of place and looked like a fool.

The most ridiculous thing I heard was the idea of a background check on the sale of ammunition. :banghead:

We can't let up...keep writing your legislators, both state and federal. CNN seems to be on a mission to keep hammering away at getting "military style weapons" out of peoples' hands.

I think the real plan is to put Feinsteins bill up for a vote, the western states dems get to vote against it (since it will never see the light of day in the house anyway), they then propose more "common sense" gun control and they get to vote for it. That way they can claim they believe in the 2nd amendment and still vote for an AWB and standard capacity magazine ban, since the "common sense" plan can be played as the least obtrusive measure they had a choice of.

Yep, I could certainly see a "Gang of Eight" propose "sweeping plans for Gun Law Reform"... ala Immigration Reform.

That bill scares him to death. I think philosophically he supports it but he has to run for reelection and the only reason he won his last election was an idiot was his opponent.
