Timmy, you seem intelligent, but you keep missing the point, you can't have a compromise, if only one party wants to compromise. we have 9,000 gun related laws on the books already, and here in California we have registration, back ground checks, there is no gunshow ''loop hole'', [as each transaction must go through a licensed dealer] we've had a ten round magazine limit since the 90's, if you have an AR you have to have a ''bullet button'' to release the magazine, and now DiFi has a new ban that wants to take away the California legal bullet button device Californians had to install in order to make them legal, she wants us to remove the handguards and flash hider on an ALREADY California LEGAL nuetered AR 15! WE cannot compromise anymore. The Antis have never compromised ONE BIT. :fire:

His last post seems to indicate that he's not returning, so... I wouldn't hold my breath that he'll read your post.

One cool thing about his temporary visitation here is that he was actually swayed out of a number of anti positions that he came in with. He concluded with nothing more than supporting two ideas; universal background checks and gun registration. So we should look on the bright side and realize that we educated him for the most part.

I was in the Sheriff's academy when the 94 ban went into effect. I remember many of the cadets could not pass certain firearms training because they could not get "standard" size mags of 17 rounds. Too many mag changes caused them to fail.

And again, the ban did NOTHING to stem gun violence. It actually encouraged it.

Compromise... the antis could start with doing away with the NFA and all the 1968 BS. Compromise is when both sides give and in this fight that's not even part of the discussion.

There is no compromise with the gun grabbers. They give up nothing, have nothing on the table and expect the pro-2nd Amendment side to do all the giving.

Law abiding citizens should not be punished for the acts of criminals. And, some things are none of the government's business.

I admire your convictions BHP Fan but putting an open letter here for Timmy after he just did his pouty flounce is like putting food out for a stray cat.

Tim, I do hope you're reading, and not completely put off by some of the rude ad hominem you've been receiving.

The crux of it, for many of us, is the impossibility of compromise.

Giving up something in exchange for nothing is not compromise; it's concession.

We're being asked to give a little more, tolerate a bit more infringement, a little more, a bit more.... what are we getting in return that wasn't already ours?

Giving up some of my rights in exchange for being allowed to keep some of my rights isn't compromise... it's infringment and gradually encroaching oppression.

The real lie, though, is that if we give up some of our rights in exchange for being 'allowed' to keep some of our rights, we aren't really going to be allowed to keep them. Those are the rights they'll want us to give up next time in exchange for being allowed to 'keep' the rest.... and so on.

This is the encroaching nature of progressive infringement, Tim.

Some of us simply refuse to give up any more.

Texan Scott put it much better than I did, but that's what I was trying to say while I was two finger typing away on the edge of a stroke from baffled anger and rising blood pressure.

Ms Dragon is right, I have three cats, two of whom were strays I started feeding, and have now moved in full time to keep my old nuetered tom company.

I missed Timmy's pouty flounce, I can't find it, but I thought he was made of sterner stuff, just to be posting his views here, of all places.

Missing the valid point that timmy was very clearly an accomplished writer, very likely a reporter of some sort- from CA.

Not your typical troll- but watch the "logs" as it were for your points coming up in printed form.

With timmy4 having decided to leave the debate there's no point in this going on any further and risk any non THR behavior.
