$3000 for a single firearm

Ive sold my dear old 1990 v8 mustang for $3000. I want to take that cash and convert it to a single firearm. I have all my bases covered and don't need anything. If you were going to splurge on something, what would it be? I'm looking for ideas. Thanks.
I'd use it to move out of CA so you can really buy some guns

For a $3000 shotgun, I'd be looking at a Browning or Beretta O/U. Either will serve you well for years on end.

I envy your proximity to those clays.
$3K will get you a nice mid-range Beretta or Browning O/U. They make much more expensive guns, though I'm not entirely sure what that extra expense really gets you.

For 3k you should be able to find a Beretta 682 Gold E sporting, or a 682 Gold Sporting. The Gold is an older model but I prefer it to the Gold E. The Gold E's are over $4k now new in the box. I believe Beretta is ending the 682 line and coming out with the 692 series. I'm not sure what all has been changed.

Berettas fit me much better than the Brownings - try both. Look at Pacific Sporting Arms website for ideas. The 682s are mechanically the same as the 686's and 687's but are a bit heavier which is what you want in a competition gun. I've seen use 682 golds with subgauge tubes in the 3k range so they are available.

Uh...guys...DumasRon dug this thread up from a deep November 30th grave if you hadn't noticed.. If the OP hasn't spent that $3000 by now, it is only worth about half in guns what it was several months ago....now it may just buy a Stag AR-15.

Nephew spent money on other things so still waiting for him to save it up again for the car. I was 99 percent certain was sold. I do see the humor in the ar jokes re prices. My preferences are for blued firearms and walnut stocks. Still heavily leaning towards a sxs or ou shotgun for shooting clays. Doubt I will do better at it than I do with my Mossberg 500.

Just for the lol'z I still want to suppress a shotgun -- even if it's eight feet long. :D

Next splurge will however be a suppressed three hundred blackout setup either on an existing rifle or a new rifle (if prices ever come back down).

I think I'd go with a Steyr Scout, a Leupold scout scope, and some 308 to put through it.
That was the plan several years ago. However, I ended up putting a scout scope on a 30-30 lever action with a 16.75" barrel. I fell in love with this setup to the point that the Styer scout is no longer necessary. I can't argue that a 308 is balistically better but if my 30-30 isnt enough In those cases I have a 30-06 or a 45-70.
