Ammo Alamo one of the Banner Advertisers has 22lr Value Packs of 525 rounds on sale if anyone needs some ammo. Only $249.95 that's only $230.00 more than it was before Sandy Hook. Get some before they sell out.

Gougers really suck. I suspect it's now time for the gouger defenders to lecture us on how it is just the free market. I would like to think that it is just a typo but these (low road descriptor) were at a recent gun show that I went to and they were gouging there too.

They're free to charge whatever they want, but they're now added to my list of companies with which I'll never do business.

This shortage is really showing what sellers care about their customers and which ones will do anything for a buck. I'll just remember after it all blows over, and support the retailers who didn't try to stick it to me. I dont' mind someone raising their prices in a market flush with excess profits, but there's a limit. Past that, you'll never win back my business.

Wow, I guess I've got 10s of thousands of dollars of that ammo sitting in my reloading room right now.

I was hoping it was a typo, but they also have a 20rd box for 24.99, and .223 is $2 or more a round.

That's why it's time to lay off the buying, let the prices come down.
Dry fire exercises, physical fitness, get those accessories you've been meaning to get, brush up on your gunsmithing, etc. until things calm down (which they already are starting to but not fast enough in my opinion).

Wow at those prices I guess I'm sitting on a little gold mine right there in my basement! No wonder they call them "Golden Bullets"; they're priced like they were made out of the stuff.

Don't buy it or anything else from them again. Simple.

Oh, and the people that do buy it deserve to be separated from their money.

Seriously. I was sure that he had mistyped the price. That is unbelievable. Even with the current gouging.

Forty-seven cents a round? Wow, they aren't giving them away, are they?

Gee. I thought this was a serious thread. Maybe they are advertisers. I have no idea. Their price is absolutely ridiculous unless they mean a "case" of 10-bulk packs.

Yeah. You better line up and get some of that.

Capitalism works by not buying at these prices and not using said company later. I for one am making mental notes of places doing this.

Well they just earned a spot on my never to buy from list. I'm going to have to email this to my list of contacts to make sure they do not either.

Gotcha....LOL

How is it not the free market? If it's not the free market, then what is it?

Free market = they are free to price it and you are free to buy or not to. 'Free market' does not mean it is an ideal utopia of affordable deals. Even at ridiculous prices, even with unethical business practices, the market is still operating freely. Nobody's defending gouging by calling a freely operating market, a 'free market'; that's simply what it is. If it isn't a free market, it would be a 'regulated market' or a 'restrained market' or a 'bound or suppressed market' or a 'forced market'. But that's not what we see here. Nobody is regulating that company's price. Nothing is restraining that retailer's price. There is no external pressure that is forcing that business to price that box how they have. The priced it of their own free accord.

So how could you call it anything other than a free market?

It wouldn't be a free market if the government priced their products for them or if we were forced to buy it from them.

It's certainly not a logical way to do business, it's reckless and self destructive actually, but how is this not an example of the market operating freely?

As much as the gouging instinctively irks me, anyone selling 22LR at $30/550 would be sold out immediately. I'd rather have the option of buying at $0.50 a round than the alternative, which would be none available at any price. I won't be buying at that price -- but if the alternative was to cancel a match or hunting trip, it's nice to know the option is there.

Let me ask you this, is anyone out there willing to offer a bunch of 550 round packs for $40 each? $50 each? I'm guessing that unless you are already sitting on 10's of k of rounds (what was that about hoarding?), you're not real eager to part with your stock either. You'd probably think real hard about it if I offered you $250, though. Does that mean you are gouging?

There is a reason that everyone has high prices but ammo in stock, or regular prices and out of stock -- the current market conditions don't allow anything else.

Punishing a seller for gouging by never going back is perfectly reasonable -- you are using your long term business as a negotiating tactic, which makes sense. People that raise their prices 500% are indeed focusing on very short term customer relationships. Just don't fall for the illusion that someone who has ammo in stock at huge prices would also have ammo in stock if they charged lower prices.
