Well, that sucks, I just paid $98 for 5000 209 primers

If you don't mind back ordering them and going on a waiting list you can get them at Powder Valley for $21 per 1,000.

In northern Illinois, primers are $4.95-$5.95 for rifle/pistol, shotgun are $6.49 per hundred. That's IF you can find some

Powder Valley isn't accepting back orders at this time. There's an explanation on their home page . . .

I purchased berdan primers early last year, but they are still sitting on the shelf (it has been a "fun" year... no, not really).

My plan is to reload some 7.5x55 GP-11 brass and some Yugo 7.62x39, but I haven't gotten to it yet. So, sorry, I don't have any first hand experience to share.

On the plus side, I now have the primers on hand so I can act when the opportunity presents itself, which wasn't the case a few years ago when I had the free time to do this.

I'm not buying until the current panic subsides and prices return to sane levels.

I saw one post where there was an individual who paid $89/1k for SPP.
I'll just stay home from the range if they're still that high when my stock pile is gone.

I'm still working on the ones I stocked up on pre-2008; the price sticker on the box of Winchester Small Pistol Primers I recently opened was $16 per 1,000. I wish I'd bought more, but when they're in stock at the gun club store, they're currently $30 per 1,000 nowadays.

One LGS is at 30.99 per 1,000. Across street 42.99 per 1,000. Guess who is moving inventory and who isn't. I just got my quarterly stocking order. Myself and 4 others buy 25,000 primers per quarter and split up between us. Our supplier tagged us for 23.00 per 1,000 at that volume this time and apologized for having to do it. Pretty sure he took a bit less margin to sell them to us that cheap but after a decade of our business he probably wants us happy. Our 1 lb powder prices were 20 per lb and my 8 pound keg of Unique was 118.

$43 (including tax) for 1000 win large pistol primers at the LGS..

I paid $32 /1000 for spp about 2 weeks ago, so I grabbed 2K of them. Not the cheapest I've found, but nobody else has them. They had 3 cases of them, but would only sell 2K per customer.

Before the crunch, CCI primers were running $28/1000 and now they are $30/1000. The CCI NATO primers are a little higher @ $32/1000.

For some reason 209 primers are expensive and were before the crunch too. I think it has something to do with the huge increase on inline muzzle loaders. It's been a long time since I've seen 209 primers for less than $4/100. And, the ones they are marking as muzzleloader primers are even higher @$8/100, what a ripoff since they are the same but for the packaging! lol

I bought CCI 550s yesterday for $35 per K. Considering the situation with components around here I thought it was an ok price.

Anchorage, Alaska, 6 months ago, $32 per 1000 for most primers for metallic cartridges. SPP, LPP, SRP, LRP. at Sportsman's Warehouse.

I just went there this afternoon. $43 on the shelf labels. But there was no inventory there.

Sorry but that is just way too much. There is no way I would pay anyone $54 for 1000 SPP. I would really rather do without than let someone rip me off. I know how much the dealers are charging the store and $54/k is a ripoff!

You should make notes and remember who charged too much and make sure you do not buy from them in the future!

I certainly didn't want to pay the $54 (that's after tax FYI) for something that was $35 just weeks before but having just gotten into reloading its still worth it to me. Especially when I can't find the ammo I want for .32S&W Long. Once I find and buy 1000 plated bullets I will probably be set on ammo for that revolver for a Very long time. $0.02 more per round isn't a big deal to me and when prices return to normal I'll be all the happier.

Yesterday I paid $28.99 for federal small pistol, and on the shelf right beside it was cci large pistol for the same price.

I stock more than what I shoot in a year, and I won't buy anything at the panic price unless I need it, but I refuse to join the crowd that cries of gouging.

Gouging means we have a free market. This is not a bad thing. Everyone can choose to pay or not to pay that price. The kind of demand that strips shelves bare justifies raising the price. I would rather see the price raised how ever high it has to go to reduce sales to the point there's still a few boxes on the shelf, than see the employees buying stock as it comes in and flipping it for 300% price online.
Looking at a bare shelf with a low price sticker helps no one. If it was available at 300% of the regular price, I would like that for two reasons. 1) If I needed it, I could still get it. 2) Primarily, the high price will be paid by those who did not plan ahead. At least they will still be able to meet their needs.
It's like buying a generator during a power outage. I was in a store once, and they guy had a sign that said exactly that. "Generator prices are double in the dark". I found it humorous, and appreciated his upfront honesty.

Purchased CCI LR primers today for $29.90/K for a friend. The store had all sizes in stock for that price. Their limit was 2,000 primers a day.

I paid $42.00 for 1000 small pistol this last weekend here in Kansas. Only one other place has them in town and they have a limit of 100 (1 box) per day.
