My daily run of LGS's was quite productive today.

Uh, okay. Were the prices reasonable?

I imagine if I hop the dozen-plus LGS locations around here, I'll find more ammo than at all three of the Wal-Mart stores in my city combined. But, for now, it's .22LR I'm after, preferably MiniMags.

Winchester 5.56 $11.99 from Academy
Zombie ammo $24 for a box of 20. Yes its high but its for the Ammo Collection
15 round Glock 20 mag $35.00. Needed that since I just got the G20 and it was the cheapest I found.
Buckmark mag $32.00
45LC 50 round box $35.00

I have had a productive week. I found 10 FN FAL mags for $19.99 each. That is the price they were BEFORE the latest round of craziness. I also picked up 1000 147 grain .308 cal M80 bullet pulls for $120 after shipping. I was pretty happy with both considering. A piece at a time. It is what I did last time too.

I picked up some .223 and some 7.62x39 from Walmart yesterday. Also, my local Academy has plenty of Buckmark mags in stock.

My Brownells order for magpul 2nd generation mags (from December) was finally shipped.

Things are trickling in, albeit slowly.

My LGS called me yesterday to let me know that the ten lowers I ordered are available for pickup today. Ten for $650! I didn't get it at a LGS, but I bought an Armalite AR15 for $750 off of a guy this week who paid over $1100 OTD for it back in September.:D

On 1-25 I ordered 1,000 230grain .45 ACP bullets from Berrys....they arrived yesterday. Just in time....I had about 300 left that I set up my press and dies for the night before!

The shelves at the LGS were actually fairly well stocked this morning. Well... more than they have been in a couple of months, anyway. I managed to pick up an 8# keg of TAC and an 8# keg of A2230, along with a box each of LPP, SPP, and SRP's. All at normal retail prices. And, there was still plenty on the shelf when I checked out. I also saw guys buying 22LR and bulk 223/5.56 ammo while I was there. (But it probably won't be there for too long.)

Ugh. It shouldn't take running all over spending gas and time to get a few items.

Cannot wait for this mess to cool out. About bought some green tip 556 the other day just because it was in stock. I didn't but its a good sign.

But that's exactly what you have to do if you want ammo. Yesterday I was very, very lucky when I walked into my local Academy as I was able to select from bulk 22lr ammo, bulk 9mm ammo, bulk 40 s&w ammo, bulk 45acp ammo, 20 round boxes of 5.56,100 round boxes of 5.56 and a 1,000 round can of federal 223 ammo. I walked out with 1,000 rounds of 9mm, 250 rounds of 40 s&w and the 1,000 round can of Federal .223. The other LGS's I visit had very little ammo and had no idea when any was coming in. I will again make my morning rounds to see what is available and buy what the stores will allow me to buy. Don't like it one bit but If I'm going to shoot any matches its what I have to do.

You found 45 LC? Lucky you

My Walmart has piles of 45 Colt. That's one of my favs, and I'm pretty sure the price was "normal", but that stuff is normally way expensive. My guns don't get store-bought ammo in that caliber.

I'll tell you what, when this mess cools down I'm buying a minimum of 5,000 rounds of .22lr

From my recent post on the Magpul thread:

Just came from my favorite LGS - East Orange Shooting Sports in Winter Park, FL. Pmags out the door for $20 each; picked up two 30's and two 20's. As noted by me on other threads, these guys never gouge and seem to have a pretty consistent supply.

Their only limitation is that you don't buy more than two of any type. This is based on recent experience with holding mass sales 2x a week when inventory arrived and people hoarding & flipping to gouge.

Swung by the LGS during my lunch break. There was still a pretty good selection of powder and primers available from the shipment that came in two days ago. And there were even several kinds of .223 bullets still on the shelves, too.

I picked up a 525-round bulk box of Federal 22LR for $24 (limit 1), and another box of small rifle primers.
