Canik Pistols: Who owns one?

My wife has recently taken up handgun shooting, and fell in love with the Jericho. In shopping for one, we found a Tristar T100, which is quite similar. $399. I'm tempted at that price, and I hear good things about the quality of Turkish firearms.

Kidding, just haven't kept up. Apologies.

My tally as of last week is 600 rounds: 250 factory loads ranging from Federal to S&B to Winchester. The other 350 are reloads: 115 gr FMJ in front of 4.8 gr Hodgdons HP38.

It, along with my new Shield, ate them just fine.

Total malfunctions as of 600th shot: 0

Yeah I've probably got about half of that. I can't find any 9mm around here!

I wager you will be pleased with a Tristar. My C100 is a great performer and trouble free.

It's a good buy. One either of you will be pleased with.

TriStar is from MO, or was rather, just an FYI.
 
Bought a C 100 about 3 months ago. have only been able to fire about 150 rnds because there's a severe shortage of 9mm around here. I'm not sure I'd say I fire it more accurately that my old CZ 75, but I seem to get it on target quicker. I do have better accuracy with it (from about 15-20 ft. than the CZSP01 Phantom. Plus the Canik55 is lighter than the 75. Have had no problems with the C 100 yet and I did like the price. It is my CCW for now. Good gun imo.
 
Tristar T100

Just picked up a Tristar T100 because it seemed to be too good of a deal to pass up. Package comes very nice with a nice hard case that is better than a Springfield XD case but just a tad less nice than a Glock Case to give you an idea. Also comes with two high capacity 15 round mags made by Mec Gar regarding mags I can confirm that CZ75 Mags work very well and are in fact. tighter than the factory mags and fit flush in the gun as opposed to the factory mags sticking out a bit because of the extra round capacity. I field stripped mine quite easily and applied some militec 1 and a tiny bit of grease to the slide. Gun runs like a champ no hiccups in 200 rounds. I stored my T-100 with the slide locked back for about a week before I shot it which is something I do with all of my guns to help speed break in.All in all I have to say for the price I paid which was 369.00 plus tax out the door it is hard to find a nicer pistol. I have never owned a CZ but always wanted one. The Fit and finish is outstanding the gun has what seem to be very tight tolerances and when fully loaded almost no rattle. It is very ergonomic and feels very natural in the hand when handling it. I am able to almost effortlessly acquire a good sight picture during dry fire drills.I believe it is the nicest handgun that I own and I own Glocks,Taurus revolver, Makarov, lcp etc. The fit and finish definitely gives the real CZ a run for it's money and for under 400 it got mine too! These weapons are a great bargain and for anyone on a budget or for collectors the Tristars and Caniks are going to go for way more than they do now very soon. It is just too good. Once folks see these things in action for a few years they will become classics much like it's cousin the CZ75. For me mine is already an instant classic. I do not even like the feel of holding my other guns now. A pistol should be an extension of your body and the Tristar feels like it. If anyone out there knows if the Tristar can accept CZ sights I would appreciate the info and also while we are talking about sights the factory sights are the only negative I have to mention they are standard 3 dot sights but at least on the one I got my dots were painted on a bit sloppily nothing too major and I can't complain on any part of the rest of the gun. I was planning to get custom nights on this one so it is not an issue because the factory sights would have been trashed anyhow. If anyone knows how to do this or has done it please reply. Out of five stars I give them 4.75 because of the epic fail on the sights had the sights shipped pristine on my gun it would get 5 stars hand down. The mechanism of the gun itself is superb and the fact that you can use cz75 mags. Be sure to get the compact ones though. If you like real CZs Berettas or Sigs but dont want to spend the money pick one of these up and hold on to it because I believe they will be worth the same as the big names soon.

On topic id own one if they had ambi safeties. Being a lefty shooter this is always a huge annoyance. When cz put out the 85s and ss 75s with ambi safety I jumped and never looked back. I've been looking at these caniks on buds but the lack of an ambi safety has kept me from jumping on one. The curse of shooting lefty, I guess.......
 
I bought a Canik C100 three weeks ago at Academy, $329+TTL. Haven't fired it yet due to the unavailability of 9mm Para. ammunition. This is my first 9mm, otherwise I probably would have had SOME ammo, but I did not.

I had been looking for a CZ 75D PCR for a while, with no luck at all, when I became aware of the Canik C100. CZs are almost impossible to find in my area at any price, so the Canik, at that price, seemed like a good idea. It is basically a copy of the CZ 75D PCR with a safety instead of a decocker.

The gun seems to be built really well, no rough tool marks inside or out, with
a finish that resembles the black poly-coat that CZ uses. I like that finish a lot, it's what's on my CZ RAMI .40sw, and it wears really well.

The gun is very slick functioning, as in slide movement, chambering rounds(I do have some "Factory Reloads" I picked up in a "gun swap" a few years ago, but I don't want to use them to evaluate a new gun), slide release, safety engagement, mag release, etc. I hope to get out to shoot it next week, and if it shoots as well as everything else works on the gun, I will be a happy camper.

I have two holsters for the CZ RAMI I mentioned, a High Noon paddle, and a Don Hume IWB, and the Canik fits in them both very well. I don't see a need to buy any holsters for it soon. And I am impressed with the Mec-Gar mags. They seem very well built, and relatively easy to load. With the furnished loading tool, of course.

So overall, if the gun shoots, with few or no FTF's, FTE's, etc, and is reasonably accurate, I will be very happy. Especially for the price.
And IF I can find some 9mm Para. ammo.:banghead:

I'll wager that, with factory ammo to start, you'll see no malfs.

Hey Mustard, how's your Canik doing now? Round count? I've got 750 rounds through mine now and so far I'm still very impressed with my C100.

I'm officially at 984.

It has had no malfunctions.

It eats junk reloads, UMC, and steel case: Stuff I wouldn't feed a gun I hate. But, by golly, this is a compact, sub $500 battle pistol if I've ever owned one.

I trust my life to it.
 
I had a c100 that had feed problems with hollowpoints. Polished the S#%t out of the feedramp and that took care of the problem. It did seem lighter than my cz75 compact, and it shot a little low. Other than that I was happy with it. It could also be put on safe whether cocked or not. My ffl gave me what I paid for it towards a magnum research 1911, so we parted ways (I dont sell my guns unless unreliable, so this was an exeption). Good guns and well priced as far as I can tell. Like I said, it might need a little polish. Happy shooting.

Actually I like the s120 version and was refering more to it..as a option to a cz75.

Appreciate the heads up though on the other model with an ambi safety.

J&G sales has the Stingray in Brushed Chrome.

Buds has the Shark C in every cerakote color you can shake a stick at.

Congrats.

Welcome to THR, by the way. Great source of info, and making friends.

Am I to assume your Tristar brought you here? If so, you've stumbled on a great forum, and a fine weapon. While not overly mainstream, the Canik line is getting more popular as we speak.

I've a friend that is ordering the Shark-C in hard chrome and alloy frame, cerakote Olive Drab Green (from factory) from Bud's. Hes chomping at the bit for his own slice of Turkish heaven after shooting my Stingray.

Been working alot and hadn't had much free time. Anyhow went to the range again today with my Tristar and problems.

Gun is very accurate. I also picked up an IWB holster from Theiss Holsters. Tommy the owner is a true gent. He makes each holster by hand.


I took a chance and ordered the CZ75 holster and it works very well. Of course holster took a little bit of break in but it is a fine holster.

I gave Tommy a call and told him what I had done with regards to ordering the CZ holster for the Tristar and he said he would update his site to make it easier for Canik owners to find.

As an owner of a Crossbreed Supertuck and a Theiss Holster. I think for the money and customer service that you get from Tommy Theiss I would pick the Theiss holster.
