I'm gonna pick up a Glock 26 (hopefully tomorrow) and add it to the carry rotation (also carry a G23). I was wondering what you all use? +p or no, 115 gr, 124 gr, 147 gr? I know I need to figure out what works best in my gun, just wanting to know the pros and cons of the available options.

Have a G26 as well. I use Hornady Critical Duty 135gr for carry ammo and anything I can get my hands on at this point for practice (it shoots anything with no problems).

I just picked up my first Glock (19) and decided on Speer Gold Dot 115 gr. I like Gold Dot and have used it in my 1911 for a while.

Thanks a lot. I had read about the newer 9mm Glocks having some hiccups (maybe just the G19, I forget), so I wasn't sure if hotter ammo would be required

Nah- mine is a Gen 4 and it eats anything. I've shot 115gr, 124gr, FMJ CCI, Federal, WWB, etc. and the 135gr Hornady JHP. Up to 800 rounds now and not a hiccup with any of it.

I use Remington Golden Saber 124gr BJHP non-plus-p (GS9MMB) because I've convinced myself I hit best with it.

Whether real or imagined is unimportant, that I believe it is what's important.

I run Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel in my 26 - but it'll eat anything. The GDSB has less muzzle flash and supposed to be faster, as they use a faster burning powder.

For 9mm, my preferred load is the Ranger SXT 127 +p+ loads or Federal HST, neither of which are easy to get due to the baloney policies of only selling directly to LEOs.

I also like the 115 grain +p+ underwood loads.

You have to decide what you want your ammo to do under what conditions, and what information makes you think that any particular ammo is going to do what you want it to.

I want a round to penetrate to at least 14" under different conditions - through a T-shirt, and through heavy clothing. I don't want ammo that penetrates more than 16"

I would like it to expand to .65" or greater.

I like Winchester's 147gr Ranger "T" Series RA9T

It seems we do this every couple of weeks:

I searched the number of times I've mentioned RA9T :D

I have taken my R9 to the range and using 124gr TMJ Lawman, I am able to make really tight groups with the little pistol shooting at 7 yards.

As soon as I switch to 147gr the shot group opens up by at least2 inches.

I'm going to take it to the range again soon and start off shooting 147gr instead of finishing up with 147gr... maybe I wasn't shooting as well at the end of the session.

But the difference in the size of the shot groups really bugs me... so far...

Only one way to find out- gotta shoot it in your gun.

As for specific loads- I've always favored "heavy-for-caliber" JHPs so I'd go with the 147 gr JHPs.

I carry 180gr in my 23, so that's what I was kind of leaning towards. If it turns out that the lighter loads work better, would +p be advisable?

When I owned a G26, I fed it the Fed 9BPLE load. It was accurate, and the gun handled it well. My current load is the Remington 124gr BJHP in the +P variety. The 9BPLE is just a bit hot for my Hi-Power, but the Remington load is warm without beating up my Browning.

At this point, I think I would settle for what ever I could find, and worry bout the specifics when ammo starts filling back up the shelves around the country.

Just my 2 cents.....I carry either Gold Dot Short Barrel or Corbon DPX. Both feed well and are accurate. Been told the DPX expands better but haven't shot anyone yet!

Have you done terminal tests with Critical Duty from a G26? I'm curious to know how it performs...according to Hornady, that load was designed for full size duty guns and not optimized for short barrels.

I don't have testing equipment and just shooting holes in paper to this point. Guy at LGS sold it to me and said it was what he would recommend.

However, you are correct in your comment on Hornady's claims. I may need to go with the Critical Defense if I stay with Hornady. Frankly, I would be happy to find anything right now.
