Here's my latest Detroit Gun Rights Examiner article:

Michigan residents continue to seek concealed pistol licences in record numbers

"As the battle for gun rights continues Michigan residents are “voting with their guns” by seeking out concealed pistol licenses at an increasing pace.

As of this month, 360,755 Michigan residents have an active Concealed Pistol License, according to the February 2013 Michigan State Police monthly report."
 
Waiting on mine to come; today is about a month since I filed... might be another month or two :(

I will give MCRGO a look see. I live in the UP in the summer. MI accepts my TX license so I am good to go.....chris3

Say, Ya to da UP , Yall. Texas in the winter, the UP in the summer; sounds like a hand-in-glove (or mitten as it were) fit.
 
I have had a concealed permit for quite a few years---it got expensive to get one when they changed the law to allow any honest citizen to get one--adding a lot of restrictions on the permit.
Our governor had a bill on his desk to allow us into the Gun Free Zones when that Ct. business came up---he immediately chickened out & cancelled the bill to make sure that only killers can have a gun in a GFZ

I agree the $105 application fee is steep, but with a CPL, we can carry in a PFZ, openly.

The bill Snyder veto'd would further limit open carry. I'm glad he veto'd that bill, as of now, nothing has changed and if I walk into a school with my gun, all I have to do is take off my jacket or tuck in my shirt.

The PFZ exemption that was proposed to allow for CC in a PFZ would have been prohibitively expensive, effectively disarming law abiding armed citizens in PFZs. I'd much rather OC in with my CPL where I have to than be completely disarmed.

He is speaking of the bill that was vetoed last year. It would make people have further training to carry in PFZ and disallowed oc....now we are starting over with a new bill. Old bill was 59 and new bill is 213.

So he is saying that they would be disarmed until they got the new training which would be prohibitively expensive? How much was this training?
 
I have seen this report all over. NICS checks and CCW permits have increased exponentially in some places in the past 6 years or so. I am sure the current administration sees similar reports, its a wonder they are still trying gun control.

No one knows because that bill did not pass. The new bill on the floor has no stipulation for additonal training.
 
In michigan the current requirement for cpl class is ppith training...that bill that did not pass would also require a ppoth class on top of the current class.

I know if a trainer that does the advanced training class, which would have qualified had SB59 passed. The cost of my standard CPL was $70, discounted through Groupon from $150. Add in the $105 for the application fee, and its already expensive. That's for the basic CPL. The same place charged, IIFC, $300 ($150 per day, 2 day class) plus the cost of ammo for the advanced class.
 
Everytime I have gone to pick up the grandkids at school I have seen guys walking out with exposed handguns----I talked to them & found out that the school asks them to leave everytime they come in.
Schools don't people walking around with exposed handguns.
I go with armed guards at the schools
We have city police in our high schools in Dearborn
 
In our county, the number of concealed weapons permits and federal licenses increased by 169 percent. In January 2013, there were 567, compared to 211 in January 2012. Folks getting nervous.
 
December of 2011 there were 1,184 new concealed carry applications in my county. This past December there were 1,896. With over half of those applications done 2 days after December 14th, the date of the Sandy Hook shooting. Obama is really going to have a hard time pushing for gun control when so many people aren't going to agree.
