Another note: Have good relationship with LEO's. When on vacation will usually notify them. During 2006 Olympics my house was in the security zone for one of the venues. Due to an encounter with a patrol in my back yard one night pre-event we had to come to terms as they violated my security zone. When all the infrared illuminators came on from each corner of house, stepped out on rear deck with goggles and a M1a to see who was upsetting the dogs we all had to go hands up on both sides quickly. Didn't take me but an instant to realize I had professionals in the yard instead of intruders and them a very well equipped home owner. I ended up going to Kolo"rad"o for the duration of the event and they parked an agent to watch my house. I think its better everyone know whos door is getting kicked down. A lot more likely to get a polite call rather than a bad case of mistaken identity in the middle of some night. Not like everything is still here, as one person says in his signature, a lot was lost in that terrible boating accident I had back in the day.

I just bought my first press on Friday and am gearing up for 9mm currently and 223 when things cool down a bit. I hope to amass what you have one day. Well done, Sir. And in a ban state no less. Props.

Impressive. I hope you have a REALLY good lock on the door, although since I see a window in the photos it might not help.
If it were me I would splurge just a tiny bit and put those mags in a locked safe or at least a sheet metal box of some sort. The ammo is heavy and hard to move but a smash and grab thief could seriously deplete your magazine inventory in about three minutes.

I started to clean my reloading room until I remembered the Bobcat needed a new battery.

Yeah Mike was over today, we went to the range and did some live fire. We were the only ones dumb enough to go to the range today in the cold, and had it all to ourselves. So we got to practice quite a few drills, including a shooting while moving. Always fun when you get the firing line to yourself.
He also picked up the brass I set aside for you.
Between the motion detectors, lights, IR cameras, glass breakage sensors, dogs, and one very mean homeowner who is never out of reach of a firearm, we don't have thievery problems here.
Homeowners insurance covers 10k.
Lloyd's of London covers the rest.

A good dog is the absolute best security system you can get for only ~$20 a month coupled with a few motion sensor lights. Mine has alerted me a couple times this year, both times ended up being a stray cat pawing at my back door. My dog has some sixth sense, when im expecting someone to knock at the door, even hours in advance, she wont budge when she hears the doorbell or a knock. If there is a knock on the door out of the blue, you bet she is going nuts. Its comforting knowing she is watching fort while im gone as many break ins are people that knock, then break in minutes later when they hear that nobody is home. Not too long ago when I had an apartment and a roommate, I noticed she perked up and ran to the back door when he was still 2-3 minutes away from getting back home.

My alarm system works when I am away. Most important to me is my cellular backup and radio backup to the phone line monitoring. Take out the phone line, fill the horn/bell with expanding foam and the place is all quiet without the active backups. My monitoring station polls my alarm every 3 to 30 seconds. If they can't communicate with the panel they assume something is wrong. Nobody has time enough to snatch much at my place. I leave all my mags out too as more valuable stuff in the safes.
As to dogs, good trick to teach them is to alert you to presence of night vision devices. I will lock them in the house, walk all around the yard. I hide an older night vision device and let them out. If it is on and they alert me and point, they get a cookie. If they hit on it with it off, no cookie as just following scent. If they miss it, they get scolded. They learn quickly and I never have to worry about lurkers with night vision as the dogs can hear the buggers and lose their minds. It really aggregated the security teams during the Olympics. Could not patrol near my house at night without my dogs wanting to rip their eyes out of their heads.

Thanks Trent, I can always use brass. When we get back home I hope I can get my gun room half as organized as yours is now. That looks great. I want to pick up some steel angle and Mike and I will weld it to make frames for a couple benches that will handle the loads from our presses.
I'm looking at all the pics on line to design how the work will flow and how the equipment will be laid out. Storage is a problem until I can get some of Mikes stuff out of the garage. At least I don't have to worry about anything out there rusting since it's climate controlled like the rest of the house.
This past week I did my CC class down here and since it was pretty warm, we did the range test at the indoors range. 85 degrees and humidity about the same. At least the range inside was cool.

Larry, I've got my Florida CCW paperwork sitting here filled out. I need to get my fingerprints done and the app notarized and send it in this week.
Even if my own government doesn't let me carry I still want the option to defend myself when I travel outside of the Land Of Lincoln.

Mine is clean, but not laid out very well. I don't have enough "free" space to work with; stuff like sorting brass is annoying. Constantly bumping elbows and wrists on the case trimmer or a press to get at the open space. Don't have enough accessible bench room to set up and clean a rifle, so I have to use the kitchen table (which bugs my wife). And, I've got about 10sq foot of dead space on the progressive bench that I can't even reach unless I climb on top of the dang thing.
I have a blueprint for that half of the room that I made when I moved in, but haven't executed yet. It includes a U shaped bench that's 7x12x8 @ 28" depth on the shorter sides (for presses), and 20" depth on the long side (for cleaning rifles / sorting / etc). In that configuration I could still reach the back corners of the "U" without climbing on anything.
Problem is now that I'm 5 years settled in here, there's 5 tons of ammo that I have to move and store somewhere before I could even start.
Even if my own government doesn't let me carry I still want the option to defend myself when I travel outside of the Land Of Lincoln.

Your reloading room is actually a room.
You have to move your Statocaster to make more room for more powder.
You have gun parts for guns you don't own anymore, just to have an excuse to buy another gun.
Seriously, I am jealous just like everyone else here. I think I would have my golf clubs in there too, and that would be my dream cave.

When we were house shopping we looked at 20ish houses before deciding on this one. We walked in, I was poking around upstairs and my wife yells at me from the basement. "Honey, it has a gun room."
Not a 'storage room'... not a workshop, or a bedroom, or any other kind of room, SHE identified it as a gun room. It measures 12x20, who am I to argue with her?

Nothing special on the guitars. Have a couple Ibanez 6 strings, a couple of Fenders, a Shecter diamond series, and a Les Paul 1960 reproduction. Also have a Taylor acoustic that plays real nice. The amp is a mesa Solo with a 4x12 cabinet. A couple of pedals so I can get the right classic Rush sound when I'm in the mood to play their earlier stuff, otherwise I play without effects other than overdrive.
A sign reading "Excuse the Noise, it's the Sound of Freedom" used to hang in the gun room, but was moved to the garage at some point, and hangs over my motorcycles.

10 years in the same reloading room and I am still too lazy to think about cleaning it up. Too much reloading to do to bother with the little things. My stuff is tame in comparison to some but I can shoot as much as I want and not bother to worry for a couple years about running out of ammo. The thing that I have going is NOBODY ELSE can find anything in there either.

The biggest problem I'm facing since I cleaned and posted this, is not being able to find things. The day after I knew where every single widget and gadget was.
I went to look for some 45 cal bulets last night to give to a friend... and found I've got some 2,000 45 cal 230gr projectiles that are missing. Last I saw they were in a great big green ammo can.
Or maybe I'm mis-remembering and those were really 40 S&W.... Because I found a can of those. Which doesn't do me any good as I never shoot 40 cal.
Anyway, it seems my ability to find stuff is directly disproportional to the time that has elapsed since I last touched it.
EDIT: Maybe it ended up where the 23 Philips screwdrivers that I used to have are hiding?
