45 ACP Bullets

Bullets is bullets.

I have used Berry's with perfectly fine results.
As well as any number of cast lead designs, and any number of jacketed brands.

Right now, it's not a matter of which is best anyway.
It's a matter of what you can find in stock for sale.

If you can find anything, they are the best!

Over the years, I have used cast, jacketed, and plated 230 grain RN bullets in my M1911s. All worked fine.

I currently use Berry's plated but these days you kind of have use what you find.

I've shot a bunch of berry's 230 and MBC "softball". Both are excellent.

As noted, whatever you can find is good. IMO if you can find a round nose profile you'll have less potential problems than a SWC profile, but with careful loading you can usually make SWCs work reliably in modern 1911s.

There are a lot of weights and profiles made for the .45 ACP, but the plain fact remains that John Browning designed the gun to function with 230 gr FMJ (RN) bullets, and I've found nothing that works any better, most not as well. So, for my money, I'd look for any kind of 230 gr RN bullet. Makes no difference really whether you use Montana Gold, Berry's plated, or Remington jacketed bullets. All brands should work just fine.

Its no problem finding them.

Anything from Missouri Bullet is great.

Mike at Mastercast has some great bullets too.

I prefer 200g LSWC and at a little over .06 a bullet (shipped) he's the best price I've found so far.

I hope not. I've shot thousands of rounds through my 1911's.
If pushed @ velocities appropriate to the hardness there's not really much to worry about. I've never really had a leading issue. If I see a little lead in the bore a chore boy does the trick nicely.

Missouri bullets should be easy to get...they have been really ramping production. I've had good luck with the 200 SWC.

I also like Missouri Bullet for lead bullets.

I really like the bullets from Precision Delta.

I have 2k on backorder right now, but I'm sure I'll receive them before I run out. I prefer the 230 grain FMJ bullets at $135 per 1000, so they're $0.135 each including shipping. They do require a 2k minimum, or else there is a small additional fee. I think it is a good price for FMJ, and I've never had a problem with them in my Ruger SR1911.

I just started shooting cast SWC BB in my 1911, (Tru-cast) and they are by far the best shooting loads I have ever shoot in it !! I have ran about 1,000 rounds of Laser-cast through it (RNFP's) , over 500 Berry's plated, and 1000's of factory stuff , too bad Tur-Cast is no longer selling bulets , so time to shop for something else,

oh and back in 1911 that was the most common round "lead round ball"
