New 1911- SIG Bobtail Commander Nightmare

It has night sights and uses the standard 1911 mags. I love the Nitron finish too.

I personally don't understand why this gun came with 8 round mags with huge rubber base pads. I mean, why would you go to the trouble of making the frame a round butt design and then add a huge pad?!?

So I put some flush fitting 8 round Kimber Pro Tactical Mags with it and I was very happy to find out that it fits in the custom holster I had made for for my Springer CCO.

I can't wait to shoot it on Tuesday!!

Thanks, and no that's the 8 rd flush fitting Kimpro Tac mag.

The original mag looks like this below and I have them in my safe. I'll use them for spare mags on my hip and carry it with the flush mags.

I actually never had that problem with my other 1911s. I just don't think it makes sense in this type of gun due to the bobtail design. I do use them in my other 1911s like in the pic below

Very nice! I end up carrying with the flush 8 round magazine, but my spare always has the 'slam' pad on it. Despite how goofy it looks hanging out the bottom, it makes reloads a lot easier and faster for me.

That's exactly what I plan on doing. Slam pads for reloads makes sense for proper seating but the mag in the gun from the start doesn't need a pad IMO.

Oh, sorry I should have explained. SwampWolf is correct; "Nightmare" refers to the Nitron finish treatment with the controls left with the stainless finish.

First up is the Nightmare!

I went through 560 rounds straight with the new SIG 1911. I fired 500 filthy Remington UMCs to get it nice and dirty, then I fired 60 Hornady TAP 230gr XTP+P. I figured if it can shoot 60 +P hollow points in this filthy burning hot state then it will feed them anytime. Not a single jam, malfunction, or hiccup! I noticed how light the trigger was in the shop but at the range it is tooooo light. I had two double taps. When I got home I measured the trigger at 2.8lbs! I wound up getting so trigger happy with this gun that I threw three shots away.

This video is with 230 grain Hornady TAP XTP+P loads at a 4" Shoot-N-C after all 500 of those filthy UMC loads.

Look at the puffs of smoke in the video and the leftover UMC filth on the muzzle and slide.

Here are seven mags. Shooting at 14 yards at an 8" Shoot-N-C; the first three are Hornady Zombie-maxx [size=8pt](aka Critical Defense with a green insert)[/size] and the other 4 are S&B 124 grain FMJ. You see me load one round in a mag and chamber and then remove that mag and replace it with a full one. I did this because I had one extra Hornady round. Just in case you were curious. This range trip marks 1,600 jam free rounds. A fantastic little gun!
