Best luck for a couple boxes of 9mm

I just got my XD sub-compact and would really like to give it a try to make sure every thing is working as should and start to get a feel for it.

Any advice on buying a box(50 rounds) or two would be great.

Get on gunbroker and pay the piper. Alternativly you just have to go by the local shops every day and hope someone gets some in while you are there.

I'm paying $20 a box (50 rounds) and that seems to be the current standard on the LGS circuit. I don't even waste my time with wallyworld for handgun ammo and have ruled out the pawn shops that are gouging like there is no tomorrow.

Really, I bought 300 rounds of WWB 9mm this last Sunday ay Wally World. You just gotta get up go in the morning. Visit often and go to multiple stores. My local one even conveniently put the sporting good section next to the auto shop so I don't even have to walk through the entire store :)

My wife is going to do some calling for me Friday when a couple stores around here get there shipments in and then go get it if they have it.

Fin Feather and Fur has 9mm in stock locally, but they do have a two box limit. The main store is in Ashland on Rt 250 and they have another in the Canton area. Depending on where you live it may not be more than a 2 hour drive.

Pricing is in the $19-$22 dollar range.

You're in luck. Yesterday the new cabelas on the north side of Columbus had 9mm in stock.

Simple answer: start reloading. I do and have about 10,00 rounds either loaded or sitting in components bought back when they were available and cheap. I haven't bought a thing since the madness began and won't. :fire:

Walmart 100 rd. boxes of Federal $21.99 + tax when you can find it. I just got 2 bxs. last week.
When one figures out time and other expenses invested in finding few boxes on the shelf it becomes Gucci-Mo purchase or worse. No thanks.
I would buy few quality 25 round JHP packs at LGS and be done with it.

I must be lucky. My LGS have tons of ammo. I live in the Repubik of California.

It's at aforementioned gouge-happy prices but it's on the shelves if you need it/want it.

Do not pay high prices on gun stuff, .... them. I actually went to local "Flea Market Gun Show". They had Gen IV G20 15 round magazines for $49+cents. I said not fhanks. I ordered four such magazines on line for $29.95/mag which is usual price at LGS except now they have empty Glock hi-cap magazine slots.

Reloading only works if you already have the stuff. Find me primers right now and I will change my mind :D

Even 0.50 a round is not to bad. If I had been smart I would have just bought two boxes of hornady when i bought my gun as it was like $13 or $14 for 25.

Reloading only works if you shoot enough to offset expense of buying necessary equipment and want to spend TIME reloading ammo. I do not. I would go 'Yosemite Sam' :cuss:every time I had to sit down to reload bunch of ammo. That could be dangerous to my health & well being. Thank God I do not like to make holes in paper.

Few weeks ago LGS had Hornady JHP 10mm 20 packs for $17.99 per box. That was not bad at all.

I reload for a lot of stuff but not the 9MM.
I like shooting my Ruger P95 though so it is getting very close to being an option.
As we speak,my local FFL is selling Independence stuff for $16.00/ box.
Oh Well!

Here in PA I can get .40 S&W 165 gr Blazers from Dicks Sporting Goods for $17.95, I can get .40 S&W 165 gr Winchester White Box Value Pack at Wally's for $35.88. My H&K USP 40 is getting good rangetime as long as I can get ammo for it. One gunstore upstate raised the price of PPU 9mm over the last month from $12.95 to $18.95, they can keep it at that price

Fin Fur and Feather in Berea, Ohio will usually have it. They also fill online orders, not to mention the pallets of the stuff you trip on as you walk in the door. Just too bad they cant seem to get very much .22 lr.

I stopped by the Fin Fur Feather in Ashland today about 4:00 and no 9mm or 22lr left on the shelves--- plenty of virtually every other caliber. 5 box total limit.

I was on my way to Columbus so I stopped by Cabelas. The clerk said they put out ammo every morning (including 9mm) and it's usually gone by early afternoon. The only 9mm left on the shelf at 6:30 was about a dozen boxes of Winchester Ranger 147gr at $72.99 for 50. 2 box limit. No 22lr left at all.
