Revolvers languishing in LGS

Same as the local gun show on Saturday. Almost the same mix as you saw. The steel wheel guns were gathering dust, and everything plastic flying off the tables.

I wish that was the case, I was hoping to pick up some revolvers and haven't seen much....

Because people want to buy what they think will be banned.

Me too. I've been trying to find a Ruger GP100 and I can't find any :O Or any affordable .357 or .44 Mag for that matter.

About a month ago, maybe a bit longer the used revolver case at my LGS hadn't been touched.

Almost all the mint 900+ ones are now gone. Still some model 10's left but thats it.

They are selling everything and anything.

I've bought 5 guns since november. Only 1 was a 'modern', mp15-22 before the frenzy. Last 4 were revolvers, and I dont plan on getting an auto anytime soon, and not because they are out of stock.

Am i one of the smart ones???

The only revolvers gathering dust around here are the junk and the overpriced good ones. Some stores figured the insanity applied to wheel guns as well as black rifles, that's not the case from what I can tell.

I had 5 on consignment about a month ago, all fairly priced and all but one sold. As soon as we adjusted the price on it, gone.

Wish there were some 'languishing' revolvers around here. Just ain't happening.

a lot of younger shooters dont understand revolvers.my daughter who is 20 recently became a shooter with her exbfren.i tried to git her to shoot when she was young but she wasnt interested. now she is a big shooter.

she was wantin to git a new gun and i mentioned revolvers.she said "yu mean them guns yu shoot just 6 times and reload?"

now on the other hand, my mom who is about 70 just sold her colt 380 and got a nice smith 38.she said "i know how this one works". her other gun is a ruger 45 vaquero.actually she has several pairs of rugers.birdsheads and bisleys.

The old stand bye's Model 36 37 60's were cheap and everywhere 6 months ago. Now they don't stay in a display case more than a week before someone snaps it up. At least here in the peoples republic of NY

I just shot three of my revolvers at the range this evening.

If the hysteria goes away and people stop reading gun rags and just PRACTICE REGULARLY with a revolver they will quickly find out that it is most likely all they will ever need to defend themselves or their home from criminal attack.

It's kind of like the 30-30 that killed so many deer and bear in the years past, but now everyone thinks they need a short magnum or a .338 in order to get the job done. If more folks learned woodcraft and shooting straight they wouldn't need much more than a .30-30.

While I pack a Glock most of the time I also pack a 642 .38 in the summer when it is way hot here in Texas.

Practice is the key. Always has been. Spray-n-pray does not work except on a battle field to keep heads down.

One could get a good Ruger SP101, Marlin 336 30/30, and Mossburg 500 12 gauge and do quite fine if they practice.

They could just just get a reloader for the three rounds and shoot often and get the skills needed.

My next gun will be a revolver. All I need is the money, and to pick the revolver. Not too many deals to be had around here. Most of them on the shelves are at or above retail, just not as inflated as everything else. Used ones have been picked over pretty good over the past few months, and a lot of the new ones are simply out of stock.

All I want is a nice .38 snub, maybe a .357. I'm not asking too much, but they still just aren't there. Now if I wanted a Judge, that's a different story.

If that case was anywhere in North Eastern Ohio, I would have emptied it by now.

You're lucky, not much left around here.

I would love to find some decent revolvers lanquishing around my LGS. Occasionally a vintage S&W will show up, going for top dollar and all, and even at that it won't last very long in the case.

Same here.... it must be a regional thing.

Most gun stores in my area cater to the "High speed low drag tactical operators"
So there aren't a lot of revolvers in the LGS. Last couple of Smith's I have seen for sale were a couple of 3 screw M-15's asking $700.00 and $750.00 I love the model 15 but not at those asking prices and of course there still for sale.

dust is about the only thing I can find routinely in my area.

Here the frenzy seems to be leveling off. While 9mm pistols( of all makes and models) and the 5.56mm black rifles are still selling revolvers are available and in a couple of my LGS's there are plenty of 45 and 40 pistols. Also shotguns, bolt action rifles and lever action rifles are available. Now if you want a lousy box of 22 Long Rifle - well that is another story.

I picked up a pre-WWII Colt Official Police just last week for $400.00 incidentally.

There is not much of anything languishing in my area, unless it is either high-end at collector's prices, or junk.

I have recently 'rescued' some that were languishing due to somebody wanting something new, semiauto, hi-cap, or some other low drag piece.

Got a 5" model 10, a 6" model 10, an UNFIRED model 28-2 4" and a fantastic shooter grade model 19 4". Prices were very good in all cases due to seller's greed for something else.

Yeah, I'm a sorry sucker to taking advantage of the current frenzy!
