Hi,
So a friend calls me the other night and says he has a bunch of "9mm" ammo for sale, he just wants to get rid of it for the first hundred dollar bill that came along,
So I hustled over there and lo and behold, he had 1700 rounds of 9x18
So I put a hundred dollar bill in his hand and walked away with all of it,
Problem.....
I have no gun chambered in 9x18 makarov. I'm just addicted to ammo.
So now I'm sitting on enough ammo to make me consider buying one.
What would you do?
Trade or sell the ammo, or buy a gun?
and if you were to by a gun, which one specifically, that is chambered for 9x18?

I have a PA63 and would buy another if I found one....

Lots of people like the Russian Makarov, reliable, very good little guns.

GOOD FIND.

If I had the money to buy 1700 rounds of ammo, I've probably got enough to buy the gun, too.

Reselling the ammo might get you more than your initial invest or it may not.

It's kind of hard to imagine the rationale for buying ammo if you didn't have the gun in the first place and don't intend to buy it now.

P 64 for right handed single stacked smallish. The Vz 82 for double stacked and a true ambi. Both are great.

The rational at the time was....1700 rounds of centerfire ammo
for a $100 bill...shucks, thats almost decent rimfire prices. I lost self control at that point, lol...just me getting my "hoarding" on
anyone want to trade some 9x18 ammo for a gun that shoots 9x18 ammo? lol

I'd say Makarov. One of the best little pistols I have owned and still regret selling it, as I do most of the guns I have sold.

I think they are just busting your chops.... I doubt Anyone on this board wound not buy 1700 rounds of a pretty popular round for 100 dollars, esp. now.

I'm calling shenanigans.

My PA63 has been a great.performer. I replaced the springs and grips and it looks worth 3xs what I paid for it.

my vote is makarov. I use it for CC and it has been 100% reliable. Just curious, what brand of ammo is it?

I'd sell the ammo since it is 9x18.

In fact just send the ammo to me and I'll send you $110 bucks!

Deaf

Another vote for the CZ82.

Makarovs are nice but CZ82 are better shooters with better triggers and cost significantly less.

Good luck finding an E German Makarov for a reasonable price!

1700 rounds of 9x19 will set up back at least $340 in todays market, if you could find it, so what you've got in the ammo and a CZ82 would be about $40-50 less for lots of fun shooting and you could resell the gun when you're through :)

I would probably buy a Makarov. My brother has an East German model and I was very impressed with the quality and overall fit and finish of the gun.

I am rational and I do not have a 9x18 gun, but I would buy 1700 rounds for $100 in a heartbeat. A person would be foolish not to. less the $.06 a round!! Heck I will give him more than $100 right now. I reload and I can't get my reloads down that cheap.

I would buy a gun though. You can find any number of good 9x18 guns for pretty cheap. I own a Mak and CZ83 (both in 380) and they are both great guns. I would give a slight edge to the CZ83 (or CZ82 in the case)

Makarov or Cz. 82
the PA-63 is Alunimum, and was sold with Czech VZ-82 ammo (sintered iron, about 20%faster).... the P-64 is a handful, a SMALL handful but still not the most pleasant pistol either....82 is a dream at the range and VERY accurate

Neither. It's money in the bank. Even at $.10 a round you can almost double your money. I would hold on to it and trade it for ammo I needed.
