Whats Your Favorite Range Pick Up 9mm Brass?

I've shot some of my 9mm range pickup in excess of 10 times. I haven't found one to be better than another. Federal, R-P, Winchester, Blazer, Sellier and Bellot.

Same goes for .40 S&W....even the nickel plated stuff seems to be lasting just fine, unlike the nickel plated .38 Special and .357 Magnums.

I used to pick up about anything I saw on the ground/floor.

Since i shoot in the back yard now, I do not get much range pick ups any more and I am happier with my reloading.

Just one of my idiosyncrasies.

I like Winchester 9mm brass and also Speer 9mm brass but Speer is on the rare side for range pickups. Winchester, Remington and Federal are always around as are Blaser, S&B, PPU and Magtech. (and lately Fiocchi too)

The kind that is re-loadable. I just pick it up and load it if it's in decent condition. I do separate by head stamp though, so my loads are always the same head stamp. But other than that, I don't really pay much attention to head stamp unless I'm loading high power rifle.

For 9mm, .45acp, and .38/.357, I really like PMC and CBC (Magtech). Federal and Speer are high on the list as well. I hate Remington and Winchester brass. Remington primer pockets always seem loose, even once fired. That might have something to do with heavy chamfer they always seem to have. Winchester brass in my experience is always short, doesn't leave much to trim if you ever find a reason you need to.

I love it when some IPSC shooters who reload are too lazy to pick up their own brass.
As far as everything else as long as the primers aren't crimped its all the same.

Yes...or all of it as long as its not steel or aluminum, then again, that's not brass.

Any brass laying on the ground is good brass. Either reload it, trade/sell it, or scrap it.

All semi auto brass casings feed well through my guns.

Whatever I pick up. I've found no difference between the brands.

Rem and Win. In alot of calibers the Rem brass is usually thinner and less ductile, but the 9mm picked up is actually heavier than the Win 9mm.

However most of the 9mm found is more than suitable for reloading. Fed is kinda soft.

If you have a good place for scoring free brass on the ground, and lots of it....buy one of these, a Brass Mower, and save your back! I have one and it is most excellent!

For making 9x18 Makarov I save Win,PPU, RWS and PMC.

There are different headstamps of 9mm? What's next, trimming 9mm?

My favorite is anything brass with an uncrimped boxer primer pocket.

Other than that they're all the same to me.

Never had much of a issue with the 9mm. Used to load a lot of .38, though, and the old IMI was just great, heavy duty, lots of bullet tension, would last forever! Used to split a lot of Federal after sometimes only a few reloads.

The only time I pay attention is when I am working up a new load,and I prefer Sellier & Bellot,not because its better, but because its the rarest around here and it makes my case inspections easier. Other than that I don't even look.

I agree with ArchAngelCD, if I had to pick some of my favorites, Speer and Winchester would be at the top of the list for 9mm and .40 cal.. I load a lot of .357 mag. too, but I can't really tell if one is better than the other for that cartridge, they all last forever it seems. I can't really say anything bad for some of the others either, R.P, Fiocchi, all the versions Federal, S&B (I have a bunch of that). Although R.P is definitely softer and I have experienced a few mouth splits with them.
If I have it, I load it providing it is in useable condition that is.

Yeah, personally, I don't separate them by mfg., a case is a case to me. If it's bad, then it goes in the scrap bucket.

I don't separate any brass by headstamps. I'm anal, but not that anal. Only exception is .30-06 Match brass, I keep that separate from my commercial and milsurp. The rest all gets mixed together.

Anything that isn't 9x19 NATO or Aguilla

I've got lots of Remington, from folks who (used to) buy the Rem-UMC bulk pack 9mm at Wal-Mart, and lots of Federal, from folks who bought the bulk surplus stuff. It's all good, except for the occasional Eurotrash Berdan-primed case that gets through the initial sorting and pushes up the decapping pin.
