A Henry Silverboy 22LR

I was out making the rounds of the local gun shops this afternoon. At Sportsman's Warehouse they were having a boat registration for a local fishing tournament. The place was packed, since it was a Saturday. At the front entrance a group of ladies were soliciting donations for Cancer Awareness. I make a donation and received 5 tickets for $20.

I went home and around 4:30 a bright, cheery young lady calls and informs me I had won a Henry Golden Boy .22LR Rifle, Silver in color. I of course went down to the store, about a half mile from the house and received the rifle. I got my picture taken and thanked the store manager and the store for its participation in such a worthy cause.

Too bad it wasn't a heavier caliber. But what the heck!

Still debating whether to shoot it or not. We shall see.

I’ve been at this for a few decades now and have a nice collection of antiques and modern firearms, so I have plenty of things to shoot other than the Henry Rifle, but it’s tempting. I ran into a You Tube Video with Hickok45 giving one a work out on his range. Very nice.

I’ve got plenty of .22LR on hand. Last November before the election, I sort of figured it would be a good idea to boost my reserves. Just in case. Since then I’ve managed to score a couple thousand rounds.

I’ve got a PSA 16” 556mm M4A1 Carbine, with a CMMG .22l Conversion Kit. An Aimpoint Red Dot Optic, with a 3X Magnifier tops it off. This thing shoots like a typewriter and is dead at 25 yards. 2 weeks ago I took her for a range trip. 556mm or .223 is more fun but a bit expensive these days.



While I was out and about, I ran into two old 45 semi-automatics.

A Haskell (Now Hi Point) Model JS 45 and a LLAMA Minimax Subcompact (Spanish made in 2003). The Haskell is pretty beat up but the LLAMA is in great shape. So I have some 45 ACP around and after I get finished cleaning them up they’re going to the range.

I also have some Rugers, Sigs and other types of 22LR sitting in the safe. Which ought to see me through this dry spell until things settle down. Thank God I don’t live in New York or California.

I doubt I'll sell her. This little gal has found herself a home.

A range buddy and I have found a new out door range out in the country and have a couple of shotguns we would like to have at it with. I'd suspect the Henry might just go along for the ride. Popping a few targets on an in door range just don't compare to doing some plinking with some cans and a flip up target. Them iron sights are still my thing and that lever action ought to be great.
