I was out making the rounds of the local gun shops this afternoon. At Sportsman's Warehouse they were having a boat registration for a local fishing tournament. The place was packed, since it was a Saturday. At the front entrance a group of ladies were soliciting donations for Cancer Awareness. I make a donation and received 5 tickets for $20.

I went home and around 4:30 a bright, cheery young lady calls and informs me I had won a Henry Golden Boy .22LR Rifle, Silver in color. I of course went down to the store, about a half mile from the house and received the rifle. I got my picture taken and thanked the store manager and the store for its participation in such a worthy cause.

Too bad it wasn't a heavier caliber. But what the heck!

Awesome! I hava a Henry Hoo1 and I love it. You'll be impressed with it's smooth action and accuracy. Enjoy it!

Still debating whether to shoot it or not. We shall see.

If you don't you'll be missing out on some very fun shooting.

Set up a line of shotgun hulls on a 2x4 at 15 to 20 yards out and plink away at them.

If you ever shot at the shooting gallery at any of the county or big city fairs you'll instantly be transported back in time by the memories and watching the empty hulls go flying.

Another great lever .22 target is the little rimfire size steel flip up and reset targets. Put it out at 25 yards and use the Henry to sharpen up your off hand shooting skills and produce a bunch of grins.

The Henry levers are Kid Approved as well. I help out with my club's Jr .22 weekly shooting sessions. I frequently take something different along to give the kid's something different to shoot from the Savage single shot bolt guns. The lever action Henry is by far the most popular of the ones I've taken out. Hell, I think they've put more rounds thru it than me. And that's despite me shooting it regularly in my attempt to keep up! ! !

Thinking of NOT shooting it? That mean you are thinking of selling it? Will you extend the "right of 1st refusal" to me?

Not a tough decision.

I’ve been at this for a few decades now and have a nice collection of antiques and modern firearms, so I have plenty of things to shoot other than the Henry Rifle, but it’s tempting. I ran into a You Tube Video with Hickok45 giving one a work out on his range. Very nice.

I’ve got plenty of .22LR on hand. Last November before the election, I sort of figured it would be a good idea to boost my reserves. Just in case. Since then I’ve managed to score a couple thousand rounds.

I’ve got a PSA 16” 556mm M4A1 Carbine, with a CMMG .22l Conversion Kit. An Aimpoint Red Dot Optic, with a 3X Magnifier tops it off. This thing shoots like a typewriter and is dead at 25 yards. 2 weeks ago I took her for a range trip. 556mm or .223 is more fun but a bit expensive these days.

While I was out and about, I ran into two old 45 semi-automatics.

A Haskell (Now Hi Point) Model JS 45 and a LLAMA Minimax Subcompact (Spanish made in 2003). The Haskell is pretty beat up but the LLAMA is in great shape. So I have some 45 ACP around and after I get finished cleaning them up they’re going to the range.

I also have some Rugers, Sigs and other types of 22LR sitting in the safe. Which ought to see me through this dry spell until things settle down. Thank God I don’t live in New York or California.

I doubt I'll sell her. This little gal has found herself a home.

A range buddy and I have found a new out door range out in the country and have a couple of shotguns we would like to have at it with. I'd suspect the Henry might just go along for the ride. Popping a few targets on an in door range just don't compare to doing some plinking with some cans and a flip up target. Them iron sights are still my thing and that lever action ought to be great.

well then, if ya ever get an thought about sellin it lemme know. Meanwhile congrats on you lucky draw!!!!!!! Good for you

Nice gun. I've been thinkin' a Henry would be a cool addition to my rimfire collection.

I won a door prize at a gun show once. Was a Remington M700 BDL in .25-06. It was a beautiful gun, but I already had a quarter bore that I inherited from my grandpa, a .257 Roberts, and I really wanted this M7 in either .308 or 7-08. I found one and made a swap for it, a stainless M7. I booted 70 bucks on the trade, but hey, I WANTED that M7. :D

I played the lotto every week for 3 years after that. I guess it was a one time lucky streak. Cool to actually win something, though, and even cooler when it's a rifle. :D
