Soooo a woman who is famous only because she married someone who earned his fame has an opinion.
And the media thinks this matters to the general public, why?

I didn't care what she thought 30-some years ago and do not care now.

Drat....now I will have Yoko Ono's voice in my head all day.
I can hear her 'singing' now; "Aieeeeogoollollolloallydugillyololololla".
.

So she saved his blood stained glasses with the dried blood?? I find that.......unusual and disturbing.

I wonder how many people who support gun rights tweeted her how many people are killed by chairs, fists, kicking, spoons, sporks (teehee), drowning, poisoning, and nearly every other for of non natural death since John Lennon was murdered.

I think we should get rid of all these guns that keep killing people! I mean good guns don't do that, just bad ones. I know which ones are evil because they're the ones I'm afraid of. When I see a bad gun lurking in an alley or some other dark place waiting in ambush, I quickly run the other way. At night when it's dark I hide under my bed, lest a bad gun might break in and shoot me with a large capacity ammunition feeding device. Or it might one of those extra-bad ones that has a fold-up hand guard.

People should listed to V.P. Biden. He knows what we should do.

 :banghead:

Certaindeaf, nope. It's a big stupid stinking lie.

Like most folks of that ilk, math is not their strong point.

We would have to have 30,000 gun murders per year for her sillyness to be true.

:barf:

Since Lennon was murdered there have been over 45 million murdered by abortion doctors. Where is the outrage about that?

I don't know what the average per year has been but in 2010 there were in fact over 30K when one counts suicides, murders and accidental.

The glasses were the one thing she grabbed from the scene. She put them in her pocket thinking he might need them.

Their existance is not 'new' nor is her stance on gun control.

Numerous celebs are tweeting their thoughts on this, Yoko is but one of many.

Actually, if you go back to 1980, then 30,000 gun deaths a year are about right. However, slightly over half of those are suicides and around 1,000 (averaged since 1980) are accidents.

In the last decade, gun deaths have been on a steep decline with last year setting a new record for fewest accidental gun deaths since they started keeping records (around 500 IIRC) and gun homicides in major decline. Not suprisingly, the gun suicide number stays fairly constant.

Yoko Ono.....

Regardless of her political stance on the subject, I find her TIMING to be amazing (like several of these other incidents... tinfoil hat... ON) to speak out on the matter. Moreover, I gove her genuine kudos for lacking the respect and diginity to keep such a person item (as Lennon's glasses) as a private momento of a deceased spouse rather than posting it on the Internet to garner macabre attention of aging music fans. She is without question a person of high moral character and social grace. I see why she was so well-liked by the other band members and associated industry people.

It is sickening how she is doing this more to get some publicity and cling to whatever "fame by association" she still has left.

Lastly, while on the subject I would like to throw a cheap shot and Sean Lennon... You got your father's looks and your mother's talent! Sell your remaining (inherited) copyrights to the other band members and go away!

Should you expect a person whose husband or wife has been murdered or grievously wounded to think clearly on the subject and make rational distinctions?

We must be pretty desperate for fodder for our ridicule.

"Over 1,057,000 people have been killed by guns in the USA since John Lennon was shot and killed on 8 Dec 1980," Ono, the former Beatle's widow, tweeted.

700,000 of which were suicides.

I don't suppose she's interested in hearing Japan's suicide figures for the last 33 years.....

Like Denis Leary says, "Mark Chapman shot John Lennon SIX times.....what, he couldn't have used ONE of those bullets on Yoko? He takes John but leaves us with HER?"

Oh, yes, I know....shame on me.

He was shooting at Yoko. Unfortunately, Chapman hadn't figured out which was his dominant eye yet and was cross-firing.

I remember watching a video about Japanese citizens' views on guns. One comment struck me as hilarious. He basically said "Americans are just so strange to want something like a gun around."

I immediately thought about the fact that they have machines that dispense used school girl's underwear in Japan. Yeah...we're the werid ones.
