Strange things happening in Illinois. My friends back east alerted me to this one and can be found at IllinoisCarry.com.

A Cook County judge found that a teen charged with AGG UUW/No FOID had his rights violated because he was too young to apply for a FOID card, and, that the penalties were too harsh and found the UUW charge Unconstitutional on face value.Charges reduced to a class A Misdemeanor.

Anything found un-constitutional in Illinois automatically gets appealed to the Illinois Supreme Court for final ruling.

Please include some kind of synopsis when you post a link. It is good to let people know what they're clicking into.

Thanks.

Can someone explain what the abbreviations mean?
AGG UUW = Aggrevated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. This is the statute in Illinois that applies when somebody is found to be unlawfully possessing a loaded gun. It is a felony.

FOID = Firearm Owner's Identification. This is a card (like a Driver's License) that all persons in Illinois must have in order to possess firearms.
