Ortgie pistol

All you should need is the spring unless the firing pin is broken.

Unless you just have to, leave the barrel in place. When reassembling it you have to get it perfectly aligned or the barrel will be pointing to one side or the other.
This can cause excessive wear of the slide.

Also, encase you don't know it, the "trick" to reassembling the Ortgies is to turn the firing pin lug into the small cut inside the slide. This holds the pin and spring assembly in place during assembly.

Of course, the firing pin will jump out of the cut very easily, so you may want to do reassembly with the gun and your hands inside a large plastic bag to catch the parts if/when they fly back out.

If we can sort of ignore the last two postings, if you are getting parts check to make sure your gun has the firing pin spring guide (#5 in the illustration). Without it, the firing pin spring can kink up and reduce the firing pin blow.

LMAO!! That's just funny. And I agree, my wife would never agree to an ortgie.

Once worked on one for a buddy that was not firing sometimes. There was a kink in the striker spring near one end. I found that when it was forwar as in in the firing pin it tended to not work but when towards the rear aand over the guide it worked fine. I wonder also if the original springs were oriented or that is to say designed so one end is slightly different from the other and it makes a difference which end is forward.

Once you get it going you might put yours on the whats your favorite pocket pistol for plinking topic that is currently going.

I found that in carrying loose in a pocket that the grip safety got turned off (and it stays off until the button is pushed again) very easily and so could not be trusted. Placing the pistol in some sort of pocket holster helped but the Ortgies seems like a good gun to carry cocked on an empty chamber with a loaded magazine rather than with a round in the chamber.

My buddy's gun was your classic little old lady's night stand gun. I think it had ammo from the 1920s in it when she sold it to him.
