Price hike at CTD

People still shop there ?

Surprises me.

The price thing- not so much. The fact that people keep looking there at all, even to find the prices.

They should just change the name to " Our name is Dirt" and be done with it.

This.

I refuse to click their links anymore.
Every time a new catalog comes in the mail I exclaim "Oh look! More fire starting material!".

buy palmetto state armory--they are back to normal. 15+- on the shelf at their ridgeland sc store. on line--hit or miss but keep finger on the buy button.

Are you sure it was the Optics Ready Carbine that was $599? I know the sport went for around that price, but the ORC's have always hovered around the high $700's - low $800's.

But yeah, why anyone would even look at CTD anymore is beyond me, their pricing is almost comical. Even before the great gun/magazine drought of 2013, their prices were rarely competitive with those of other, better run and more solidly 2A sites.

The M&P Sport 15 was around $700 last year, the year before it was going for around $600. I recently purchased one and gladly paid $850 for it at a local shop.

Apparently, S&W just sent out a shipment of these "Optics Ready" M&P 15's. I just received an email from a local shop that has them listed for $1039. This is the same shop I bought my Sport 15 for $850 at. They are reputable and their prices are reasonable.

So... I guess the sun still rises and CTD still gouges.

I bought some minor thing from them years and years ago, when they were actually competitive. I STILL get a flyer from them for their "deals". They have spent way more sending me a flyer over the years than I ever spent there. Still good for a laugh now and then when I thumb through the flyer before I recycle it however.

I am not to cool to keep up with what is going on with online retail dealers. I have never bought anything from there. Ever. I just thought it was nuts. What a crazy markup.

What's Platamen Stat Aromre?

Palmetto State Armory

Pimento Steak Anchovies?

What is this person talking about?

Man, folks still post about CTD? How many more CTD threads will be enough?

+1 I'm pretty sure this old horse has been beat to death, back to life and back to death once more. I was not aware their prices had ever been low enough that they could be hiked anyway.

I've been much happier since I unsubscribed from their email list. Now I don't even have to see their stupid adds unless I click on a thread like this. :D

Ar you really surprised? They've been selling $99 PMAGS for months. They are a business in it for profit and and are jumping on the high price supply and demand like most others.

Yep! Preying on the Yanks who never bought a gun until their Lord and Savior was elected to a second term.

Thanks for the good laughs this morning...

I got an email alert for a bolt carrier group being in stock from another vender, but it was $70 more now, so I emailed them why I wasn't interested at that price. I am keeping a mental note of those who have raised prices way up. A little doesn't bother me, but a lot, nah, not for me.

Tell me about it. I started working from home, and I never get out. It is eat, sleep, work, watch the kids.
Working from home is tough. You never get out.

That is why I bought the Dillion. Because I only had, well, might have an hour or so to do hand loads, and it would take me days to get a couple hundred of anything loaded.

There is nothing funny about it. They, like any smart retailer, have adjusted their prices to meet market demand. It is an essential function in a healthy economy. When they get overstocked on something or something loses demand they drop their prices, something you probably never complain about.

Agsalaska, gimme a break, and spare me the "free market 101" class. It was a gag thread from the start.

Yeah, I think it stinks to prey on people when you don't have to. Sometimes quantity of sales beats bending over your customers. But yeah, maybe the manufacturer is in short supply, so the retailer has to beef up prices because his inventory is low..
Like it was said on another thread, American companies do not keep stock piles any longer to protect the economy. They produce on demand, and all it takes is a panic to spin everything out of control.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the big retailers and manufacturers were sitting at a round table during the election, holding hands, hoping that the guy would get re-elected.
And the "laughs" were to the users of THR that had some good comments about Crazier Than Dingbats (with hydro-phobe).
But all-in-all, I just wanted to have some fun this morning since I didn't have to go to work, and was in a good mood and all. Cooked flap jacks for the kids, made the wife coffee, and played with the dog.
I hope you have a good rest of the day. In a 1990's inner city voice I say, "Peace Out!" :)-)+=

Funny, most businesses were and still are against Obama because of his attempts to raise their taxes. Now those in the gun industry are making money hand over fist because of him. Pretty ironic in their case.

Yes, CTD is scum for raping customers for profit and have shown their true colors to us in the shooting sports. Hopefully the profits they hope to make doing this during this frenzy will not support them when things come back to normal.
